An occupational therapist helps people of all ages do the things they want to do and need to do through the therapeutic use of everyday activities. Maryville University’s nationally accredited graduate program in occupational therapy offers individuals a promising career in this fast-growing discipline. Whether it’s helping an elderly stroke patient find a new way to dress herself or teaching socialization skills to a little boy with cerebral palsy, an occupational therapist makes it possible for people to live independently and enjoy life’s activities.
The mission of the Maryville University Occupational Therapy Program is to prepare students to be competent entry-level occupational therapists with the knowledge, skills, compassion, professional behaviors, scientific grounding, and ethical values needed for contemporary practice. Graduates of our program will enter practice as life-long learners and be prepared to engage int he process of delivering occupational therapy services across all practice settings with a focus on the central importance of human occupation.
