Mission

The Salafi Da'wah is that of the Qur'an and the Sunnah. It is the Religion of Islam - pure and free from any additions, deletions or alterations. It is to adhere to the Path of the Messenger (sallallahu 'alaihi wa sallam) and of the True Believers (as-Salaf us-Salih). As-Salaf is a collective term referring to the Pious Pioneers in Islam and all those who follow in their footsteps in belief, actions and morals.

Allah has said (what means): Whoever contends with and contradicts the Messenger after guidance has been clearly conveyed to him, and follows a path other than that of the Faithful Believers, We shall leave him in the Path he has chosen and land him in Hell, what an evil destination! [An Nisa 4:115].

The prophet said to his daughter Faatimah, "HOW EXCELLENT A SALAF I AM FOR YOU." (Saheeh Muslim no.2450)

Imaam al-Asbahannee (died 535 Hijrah) said: "The sign of Ahlas-Sunnah is that they follow the Salaf and abandon all that is innovated and newly introduced into the religion."

The Prophet also said, "AND THIS UMMAH WILL SPLIT INTO 73 SECTS, ALL OF THEM IN THE HELLFIRE EXCEPT ONE." The companions said, which one is this. The Messenger of Allah replied " THEY ARE THOSE WHO ARE UPON THAT WHICH I AND MY COMPANIONS ARE UPON TODAY".

Shaykh Al-Islam bin Taymiyah [d.728H] - rahimahullaah - said:
“There is no defect in spreading the madhab (way) of the Salaf and ascribing oneself to it, rather it is obligatory to accept this by agreement. Indeed, the madhab of the Salaf is nothing except the truth.”
[Majmoo’ul - Fataawaa 4/149)]

Following the Salaf as-Salih

Imaam al-Awzaa’ee [d.157H] - rahimahullaah - said:
“Patiently restrict yourself to the Sunnah and stop where the people stopped, say what they said and avoid what they
avoided. Take the path of your Salaf as-Salih (The Pious Predecessors, the Companions of the Messenger, the next generation
and the following generation that came and adhered to what the Companions were upon in Belief, knowledge and action), for
indeed, what was sufficient for them is sufficient for you”. [Ash-Sharee’ah (p.58) of al-Aajurree]

Imaam Ahmad bin Hanbal [d.241H] - rahimahullaah - said:
“The fundamental of the Sunnah with us are: clinging to that which the Companions of the Messenger of Allaah
[saul’lallaahu’alaihi’wasallam] were upon, taking them as our examples to be followed, avoiding innovations, for every
innovation is a misguidance”. [Usool as-Sunnah (p.5)]

Imaam al-Asbahanee [d.535H] - rahimahullaah - said:
“The sign of Ahlus-Sunnah is that they follow the Salaf as-Salih and abandon all that is innovated and newly
introduced into the Deen.” [Al-Hujjah fee Bayaanil-Mahajjah (1/364)]

Imaam As-Sam’aanee [d.562H] - rahimahullaah - said:
“As-Salafee: this is an ascription to the Salaf and following their ways, in that which is related from them.” Ibn alKatheer [d.630H] said in al-Lubaab fee Tahdheebul-Insaab (2/162), commenting upon the previous saying of asSam’aanee: “And a group were known by this ascription”. So the meaning is: that the term Salafee and its ascription
to them, was a matter known in the time of Imaam as-Sam’aanee or before him. [al-Insaab (3/273)]

Imaam adh-Dhahabee [d.748H] - rahimahullaah - said:
“It is authentically related from ad-Daaraqutnee that he said; There is nothing more despised by me than ‘ilmulkalaam (innovated speech and rhetorics). I say: No person should ever enter into ‘ilmul-kalaam, nor argumentation.
Rather, he should be a Salafee (a follower of the Salaf).” [Siyar A’laamun-Nubalaa (16/457)]

Imaam Abdul Azeez bin Abdullaah bin Baz [d.1420] - rahimahullaah - was asked, ‘What do you say about the one who calls
himself ‘as-Salafi’ and ‘al-Athari’, is this a term of commendation? So he replied:
“If he is truthful in saying that he is Atharee or Salafee, then there is no problem. This is like what the Salaf used to
say, ‘So and so is Salafee, or so and so is Atharee’. This is a term of commendation from which there is no escape,
rather it is a term of commendation that is obligatory.” [from the lecture : Haqqul Muslim 1/6/1413H in Taa’if]

Imaam Muhammad Naasir-Uddin al-Albaanee [d.1420H] - rahimahullaah - said:
“However, there are some who claim knowledge who deny this ascription, claiming that it has no foundation, saying:
“It is not permissible for a Muslim to say: I am Salafee.” And it is as if he is saying: “It is not permissible for me to say:
I am following the Salaf as-Salih in what they were upon in ‘aqeedah, worship and manners!” And there is no doubt
that the likes of this denial - if that is what is meant- implies that he is disassociating himself from the correct Islaam
that Salaf as-Salih were upon….Thus it is not permissible for a Muslim to disassociate himself from being ascribed to
the Salaf as-Salih. If, however, he freed himself from any other nisbah (ascription), then none of the people of
knowledge could accuse him of disbelief or sinfulness.
However, the one who refuses calling himself with this name Salafee, then it should be seen, does he attribute himself
to a particular madhab - whether in matters of ‘aqeedah or fiqh? So perhaps he will call himself an Ash’aree or a
Maatareedee, or he may be from Ahlul-Hadeeth, or a Hanafee, Maalikee, Shaafi’ee or Hanbalee - from those matters
which enter into the term Ahlus-Sunnah wal-Jama’ah. Despite the fact that the one who ascribes himself to the
Ash’aree madhab, or the four well known madhabs, then he has ascribed himself to those who are not protected from
making mistakes as individuals - even though there are from them Scholars that attain what is correct.
So why! O why! do they not reject the likes of these ascription’s to individuals who are not protected from mistakes?
However, as for the one who ascribes himself to the Salaf as-Salih collectively - then he ascribes himself to that which
is protected from mistakes.” [Al-Asaalah Magazine (no.9/p87)]

What Is Salafiyyah?
Author: Shaikh Ahmad Bin Yahya An Najmee (may Allah have mercy upon him)
Translator: Abu ‘Abdis Salaam Siddiq Al Juyaanee
__________________________________________

As Salafiyyah is a connection to the Salaf. The Salaf are companions of the Messenger of Allah (sallAllaahu ‘alahi wasallam) and those who follow them in good from the first three virtuous generations and then (all those) after them (who follow them and are upon their way). This is Salafiyyah. An affiliation to Salafiyyah means (that one) affiliates (his/herself) to that which the companions of the Messenger of Allah (sallAllaahu ‘alahi wasallam) were upon and the way of the people of Hadeeth. The people of Hadeeth are those who are upon the Salafy methodology and follow it. As Salafiyyah is the (proper) belief in the names and attributes of Allah, the (proper) belief in Qadar and the (proper) belief in the Sahaabah (companions of the Messenger of Allah (sallAllaahu ‘alahi was sallam) and so on and so forth.

The Salaf believe in Allah and in His beautiful names and exalted attributes that He (Allah) has described Himself with; and that which He was described with, by His Messenger (sallAllaahu ‘alaihi wasallam). They believed in (His names and attributes) in a manner that befits the majesty of Allah (Subhaanahu wat Ta’ala), without distorting them, nor resembling them to the creation, nor negating them nor explaining them with false and erroneous explanations.

They believe in Qadar the good and bad of it and that a servant’s Imaan (faith) is not complete until he believes in the Qadar that Allah has decreed upon His Servants. Allah says,

إِنَّا كُلَّ شَيْءٍ خَلَقْنَاهُ بِقَدَرٍ

“And verily We created everything with Qadar.”

[Suratul Qamar: 49]

As far as the (proper belief with regards to the) Sahaabah, this means the belief, that it is incumbent to be pleased with the companions of the Messenger of Allah (sallAllaahu ‘alahi wasallam) and that all of them are trustworthy and that they are the best of the Ummah and the best generation. The belief that every one of them is trustworthy, opposes that which is believed by the Shi’ah and the Khawaarij who considered the companions of the Messenger of Allah (sallAllaahu ‘alahi wasallam) to be disbelievers and did not recognize their rights or the truth (of their noble position).

Salafiyyah does not have a leader other than the Messenger of Allah (sallAllaahu ‘alahi wasallam). The Messenger of Allah (sallAllaahu ‘alahi wasallam) is the Imaam of Salafiyyah and the example (that is to be followed). The companions of the Messenger of Allah (sallAllaahu ‘alahi wasallam) are (also) examples (to be followed). The foundation (or source) of this principle (can be found) in the statement of the Prophet (sallAllaahu ‘alahi wasallam),

“The Jews split into seventy one groups. The Christians split into seventy two groups. This Ummah will split into seventy three groups; all of them will be in the fire except one.” They (the Sahaabah) said, “Who are they (that saved group) O Messenger of Allah?” He, (sallAllaahu ‘alahi wasallam) said, “They are the ones who are upon the like of what I and my companions are upon.”

[Hadeeth collected by Imaam Abu Dawood, Imaam Ibn Maajah, Imaam Ahmad, and Imaam Ad Daaramee. Graded hassan saheeh by Imaam Al Albaanee]

And his (sallAllaahu ‘alahi wasallam’s) statement in the hadeeth of Al ‘Irbaad bin Saariyah (radi Allahu ‘anhu) who described the Prophet’s (sallAllaahu ‘alahi wasallam) sermon, and that afterwards he (sallAllaahu ‘alahi wasallam) advised them to fear Allah. He (sallAllaahu ‘alahi wasallam) said,

“I advise you to fear Allah and to listen and obey (the Muslim ruler), even if a slave was to become your ruler.”

Then he (sallAllaahu ‘alahi wasallam) ordered that his Sunnah and the Sunnah of the rightly guided khulafaa (plural of khaleefah) be followed. He (sallAllaahu ‘alahi wasallam) said,

“Incumbent upon you is my sunnah and the sunnah of the rightly guided khulafaa after me, bite (hold) onto it with your molar teeth. And beware of newly invented matters (in the religion), for verily every newly invented matter (in the religion) is a bid’ah and every bid’ah is a misguidance.”

[Hadeeth collected by Imaam At Tirmathee, and graded saheeh by Imaam Al Albaanee]

====================
==========
