In the name of Allah the Most Gracious the Merciful
"Who is he that will loan to Allah a beautiful loan, which Allah will double unto his credit and multiply many times? It is Allah that gives (you) want or plenty, and to Him shall be your return."
The Quran 2:245
"Giving away something in charity does not cause any decrease in a person's wealth, but increases it instead. The person who adopts humility for the sake of Allah is exalted in ranks by Him".
Hadith from Sahih Muslim
This is a request from Masjid Nur Al-Islam. The Masjid is a community-based, independent non-profit organization funded by contributions from members of our community. The Mosque is located in Kensington Brooklyn, New York. The Mosque is a small building and is looking to expand by buying the building next door. The community is growing and there must be additional prayer room provided for all our brothers and sisters.
Masjid Nur Al-Islam is committed to not only sharing Islam but to teach our children the meaning of Islam, and what it is to be a Muslim. The Mosque is grateful by Allah the Most Gracious for making Masjid Nur Al-Islam a beacon for diversity. Masjid Nur Al-Islam is a Mosque that promotes diversity, bringing brothers and sisters from all regions into one building. Not only that, but Masjid Nur Al-Islam is the only Mosque in the neighborhood which has a women’s section for prayer, khutbas, and family events. This is also the only Mosque in our neighborhood that has fought to publicly announce over loudspeaker the adhan five times a day. We are thankful for Allah’s generosity for allowing the call of prayer to be heard by all Muslims and Non-Muslims throughout our community.
It is very important for Masjid Nur Al-Islam to get the building next door in order to secure a convenient expansion that is both obtainable and feasable. The current size of the Mosque is just not large enough to provide room for all the individuals in the community. During Friday khutbas, there are individuals who have to put sheets on the floor and pray outside on the sidewalk due to the overcrowding. On Eid prayers, the Mosque gets permission from the City to be allowed to shut down the streets, so the brothers can pray there, while the sisters use the building. Even than there is overcrowding for the sisters and it becomes quite an endeavor for praying properly, especially during the winter seasons.
The cost for the building next door is seven hundred thousand (700,000) USD.
The community is actively involved in a fund raising campaign to raise the necessary money. Your donation is desperately needed. All donations will be most welcomed: large and small. An account has been set up specifically for this purpose. Any donations will only be used for the sole purpose for the expansion of the Mosque.
