I would give this place 0 stars if I could. I had liked the previous massage I had there, but the therapist I had this time Corrine combined with the unprofessional management of the situation that arose was disgraceful. Corrine was less than personable from the start, and was not warm or friendly at all. I thought maybe her massage skills would make up for it, but from the moment she put her hands on me I was even more uncomfortable and uneasy. She was going to fast with so little pressure that I felt like she was prepping me for a medical procedure. When I asked her to slow down and use deeper pressure she said "okay" and proceeded to change absolutely nothing. She later asked if everything was okay and I said I really wanted her to go slower, to which she responded "I'm just not a slow person" and told me I could reschedule with someone else if I was not comfortable. At this point I was so uncomfortable with her having her hands on me that I asked her to stop. When I went to the front desk crying I assumed they would not charge me for such an awful experience, particularly because Corrine had said I could reschedule. However, they made it clear that they were charging me for a FULL HOUR even though I was on the table for about 40 minutes. When I expressed frustration at having to pay for something that was not at all what I asked, they seemed to think I was trying to get "free service" even though what they called "service" felt more like undergoing an unpleasant medical examination. I would never go back there and am honestly afraid to book a massage anywhere for fear of this type of situation happening again. I have yet to find a good massage place in Pittsburgh, but if you're looking for one this definitely isn't it.
I have been a member here since they opened and go monthly if not twice a month, mostly for massage but have had a few facials as well. I just love this team! I am a former spa manager at a luxury resort in Hawaii Fairmont Orchid and am so impressed with what they have done with this small space. Added benefit of free parking and some great shops to check out when you're done. They do a great job of screening their therapists - due to my schedule I am always booking last minute so always have someone different, and they have ALL been fantastic. Keep up the good work, guys!
tl;dr: very professional. Very enjoyable. Recommended. I ended up getting a massage through a long story I won't go into. I never get massages, but here I was. I had a gift card that turned out not to have enough on, so they needed my credit card information, but I didn't want to get any kind of advertising from them. The staff there were very patient, making every effort to keep me satisfied. Then, I got the massage. It was a very relaxing, very calming. The masseuse was really great, especially dealing with my shoulders, which are always aching - perhaps I should rethink my policy of not getting massages! I didn't regret taking the time out to do this for myself. :
My girlfriend purchased a massage package for me over the phone. She was given nothing in return and told to have me call to set up my massages. I loved the gift but I knew I wouldn't go often.. On my first call I was given grief as I was told my package expired. My girlfriend called and spoke to someone else who fixed everything but every time I call Im told I need a membership, or I have been told I need to renew my membership to use the massages that were purchased for me. This was over a $300 and this company has been extremely difficult to work with. I would suggest if you want a massage you look anywhere else
The only reason they receive two stars is for the therapists themselves. The office is extremely mismanaged, good luck getting someone on the phone or booking an appointment. I’ve tried to use my monthly subscription but it’s more of a hassle than it’s worth because you can never make a remotely convenient appointment, when you show up the therapists are usually late and they don’t reimburse you that time, and the front desk staff never seem to know what’s going on. I would call Massage Envy and schedule with them but I’ve already paid for this month. What’s the point of relaxing for a massage when just trying to get an appointment stresses you out? Do yourself a favor, go somewhere else.
Massage Heights takes advantage of customers' errors when the customer decides "too late" that they don't want a membership. They'll take you money and keep it, even if you haven't schedule a massage or want the membership. It's silly and unethical. Prepaid membership massages will not be refunded if you fail to cancel the not-yet-received massage and massage membership. My daughter unwittingly signed a contract I was not prepared to pay for and neither is she as she is a student. While it is legal, it is mostly a sales trick, and the law protects the business, not the customer in this. Buyer beware. They'll say they warned you, but effectively it doesn't matter.
Great Massages; Shady Billing Practices My wife and I have been members for about 6 months. We tried to cancel at the end of November, and are still being billed in January we are moving across the country to Seattle. When went for what we thought was our final massage, we were told that we should have filled out a cancellation form but that they'd work to make sure we weren't charged again. Now, when I noticed that there were more charges on my card for a massage I wouldn't be able to redeem, I called them to figure out what we could do. The person on the phone assured me that there is a Massage Heights in Seattle and I could use the credit to get a massage in Seattle. That was a lie - there is no Massage Heights in Seattle. I am going through my bank and credit card company to try to get the most recent charges reversed. The massages are great, though. I would recommend being prepared to cancel your credit card when you want to cancel your membership.
New management, new employees, completely sucks. I had a membership for a few years getting massages and facials monthly but I recently cancelled. The service is poor. I arrived 30 minutes early and my massage was 10 minutes late changed for 5 minutes then ended 10 minutes early because they were behind schedule. I requested to cancel in person and they told me I had to send an email. This did not make sense to me as I signed up in person. I expressed this over the phone and was told, "my manager isn't here right now but we will handle it. sorry for the inconvenience". Long story short, 4 months later it is cancelled. They refuse to refund me, but expect me to feel comfortable going into this establishment to credit after I went back in forth with "management". I asked multiple times who was behind these twitter fingers, but they didn't want to share. Interesting how a company can have my card information, my address, my email, workers who have seen me half naked, but fail to share who is responding with such foolishness behind the company email address.
This would be a 1 star if the masseuse did not provide good technique and was so polite. I would first like to start off by saying this was my first time here. I attempted to book this past Monday and our appointments were confirmed my wife and I were attempting to go at the same time only to find out when we show up that she is at noon and I am at 2. This was the first hiccup, but that is okay mistakes happen. We re booked for today, I was called back and Ready to receive my massage at 605, the massage started shortly after. Like I said the massage was nice and a good quality. My rating remains poor because the massage ended at 655, 50 mins when I was booked for an hour. I was slightly upset at this point, but it got worse when I went to the desk and they said my total was 99.99$ because I wouldn’t sign up for a membership. Not only was this double than as discussed my wife confirmed 49.99$ for me prior to us going there was a pamphlet right in front of my face stating introductory massage 49.99$. So why are you trying to charge me double? This upset me greatly that you not only cut my massage short but then tried to double the cost. Unacceptable.
Absolutely love the consistency and friendliness. Always on time and the place offer a good variety of spa services. What I love most is free garage parking and central location. I have seen a few therapists but always stick to my favorites. My husband on the other hand always switches due to his schedule and we have never had a therapist we didn't like between us. Perfect place to relax and recharge!
