The Matheson History Museum preserves and interprets the history of Alachua County and its environs. The museum complex includes the museum in the former American Legion Hall, the 1867 Matheson House, the Tison Tool Barn and the Matheson Library & Archives (in the former Melting Pot building).
"The Matheson History Museum's mission is to preserve and interpret the history of Gainesville, Alachua County, and its surrounding environs. Our museum complex consists of four historic buildings. We host Florida-themed programs and exhibitions throughout the year."
