The park features a network of well-maintained trails that meander through the forested areas, offering a chance to explore the island's ecosystem. The trails are suitable for hiking or gentle strolls, and they provide opportunities to immerse yourself in the nature’s embrace.
Steep hills with many footpaths. A gorgeous view of Mt Rainier when she's out. Access to camping spots via water kayak/canoe only. Restrooms: Porta potties at the top and bottom of hill. Dog-friendliness: Get a workout. Picnic area: Many picnic tables in various places at the water. Also at the top lookout. NO fires anywhere.
This is a beautiful, mostly untouched stretch of Maury Island coastline. Be prepared to walk up a big hill that's 3/4 of a mile on the way back. I had the whole beach to myself, and when I stepped onto it, the first thing I saw was 2 Great Blue Herons feeding. Be sure to check the tide tables so you can be there during low tide. There's trails to explore and 2 sanican toilets along the main road down. Super peaceful.
Beautiful vistas and nice quiet beach. Good place to take the dogs. Downside: accessed by a gravel park maintenance road which is not particularly scenic. It is downhill for 3/4 of a mile and then you have to walk back up the hill to exit. Please do keep in mind that the beach is not really suitable for long walking due to the fact that it is made up of large pebbles.
A great campsite on the south east end of Vashon Island. Well maintained minimal facilities, clean and reasonably priced. You even get a quick leg workout when leaving and walking back uphill to your car when leaving. Highly recommended!
A great place to have a picnic at the top for those who are not able to walk much with a nice view of the water and Mt. Tahoma Rainier on a clear day. 2 separate trail heads, main one with a parking lot. The area with the view is the steeper climb back up. Loose rubble and sand so only go if you’re sure-footed; Its a great workout. you can walk along the beach if the tide is right. Look out for poison oak it is often mixed in with other plants.
Peaceful place..there is a relatively steep road of about 0.6 miles that you need to walk to reach the beach…Mount Rainier view on a clear day
This place is great to either visit for a day or to stay overnight! The walk is very enjoyable with plenty of views of Mt Rainier. At the bottom you'll reach a nice beach and the camping spots. There are 2 restrooms but as usual they aren't the cleanest, also if you are planning on camping keep in mind there is no running water so make sure you bring plenty! Some camping spots have a table and seating which is very convenient!
Very nice view of the water, and a good hike to the beach. Can be tough walking back up the switch back trail to the main road. Apparently there is a campground near the beach.
Beautiful scenery ~ wide, accessible path made of compact gravel. Small, paved parking lot at the entrance. Did not see a public bathroom...
