Maya Papaya CSA at H.Y.P. Yoga Studio Needham
HYP Yoga Studio Needham will be a pick-up depot for a CSA from the Maya Papaya Farm located in Bridgewater, VT. If you choose to join you will be able to pick up your produce at HYP Needham every Thursday starting June 1st for 20 weeks. The cost is $350/ share (a share is estimated to feed about 4 people, maybe 2 if you eat a lot of vegetables). This is a great deal!!! divided by the 20 weeks this is only $17.50/week, divided by the 4 people it may feed this is only $4.35/week/person. If you think this is too many vegetables maybe you can split a share with a friend or 2 friends.
What is a CSA? The CSA is a growing trend for small farms and folks interested in eating fresh vegetables and supporting their local farmers. The way a CSA works is that a you purchase a "share" for a lump sum at the beginning of the growing season, once a week for the duration of the growing season you will then pick up your portion of in-season vegetables from a pick-up depot. The is is a win-win situation for farmers and consumers. The farmer is guaranteed a market for his/her product and the consumer is guaranteed good quality (in this case organic) local produce at a price lower than he/she would pay in a grocery store.
