Since our formation in 1955, Mayfield Pet Hospital has served the needs of tens of thousands of dogs and cats and their owners. In 2011, senior veterinarian and owner Dr. James Ringer retired and the practice was taken over by Dan Winger who has worked at Mayfield Pet Hospital for 26 years. As Dan says, “A lot of veterinarian practices can seem cold and can leave people with the feeling that they’re all about the money. That’s not what we’re about. At Mayfield Pet Hospital we know our clients well. They’re like family to us. We love dealing with our clients and taking care of their animals. There’s nothing more satisfying than a dog or cat coming in sick and going home licking your face.” Senior Veterinarian Dr. Nancy Hankins agrees: “We have a family feel here. We don’t want someone to feel like they’re in a hospital.” Dr. Jacyln Olson adds: “I love the client interaction and taking care of the animals. We treat them like our own.”

My family has been going here for years. They are just invariably lovely with all our pets, most recently my new dog. The vets are caring, knowledgeable, and able to put pet and parent at ease. Will never go anywhere else for the care of my pets.
The staff are so very nice. It is easy to see that they love their job! Dr Jaclyn Olson is so compassionate, so kind. She took such good care of my 19 year old cat, Lucas. When it was time to say goodbye, she did not rush me and after he took his last breath, she let me spend time with him. Her kind words helped ease the pain. Ella, my 11 year old rescue dog is under her care and I am so thankful!
Mayfield Pet Hospital is the best staff we have come across in all our years owning pets. From "upscale" vet clinics in the heart of Chicago to holistic country barn pet sanctuaries, Dr. Hankins is the best! She helped rehabilitate our little dachshund with back problems and loss of back leg functionality from immobile to walking in several months. We avoided costly surgery and received attentive and great care throughout our road to recovery. We cannot say enough good things about her and the staff at Mayfield Pet Clinic. Top notch all the way around!
My dog suffered an accident and tore his cruciate ligament and severely damaged his medial meniscus. He is unable to walk and will need major surgery. After scheduling the pre-surgery appt. with a specialist 3 wks away I called my regular vet office of 10 yrs to get pain and anxiety REFILLS for my injured dog. I had the unfortunate experience of dealing with the owner of Mayfield Pet Hospital, Daniel. Thinking he was texting his employee via PetApp, Daniel actually texted ME by mistake. …”tell her she can go find another vet.” What? It’s just a refill of the SAME meds he’s been getting. Did anyone actually look at my dog's records to see this is a REFILL & not a new prescription? Apparently, the vet who saw my dog last wasn’t in that day, but the other vet who also sees my dog was in the office that day. I didn’t care who wrote the prescription, if I had to wait a day for the other vet, that would’ve been fine. It is, however, a common practice for the covering vet to write a prescription for the Vet that is out. It’s not "illegal" DANIEL, to have the covering doctor write a prescription for the doctor that is out. THAT IS THE POINT OF HAVING A GROUP PRACTICE. FYI: it is also common for a compassionate vet, to give the dog/patient a couple of pills to get them by until any “issues” can be resolved. Unfortunately, on a day when my family needed compassion and concern, we had to deal with the childish and abrasive demeanor of the owner. ONE WEEK LATER: As I edit this review a week later, my dog is STILL in PAIN. We can’t get into a new vet in time AND we have 2 wks. to go before we can see the surgeon and finally get pain/anxiety meds - Which could have EASILY BEEN HANDLED by our Vet of 10 years! Daniel, you should be ashamed of how your pride and inability to hold yourself accountable are causing a dog’s misery and suffering.

Pet dog pit mix. Have been a customer for five years. Love everything about the MPH. Renee receptionist always friendly and accommodating to fit you in so you can stay on track with vaccinations. Dr. Olsen is A++++. She’s very thorough on all visits and treatment plans. She’ll take time to listen to your concerns as well as just general conversation. Visits are always punctual, even during COVID-19. Office is newly remodeled with a very refreshing appeal. Love that I can get special diet food, hygiene products and meds on-site - one stop shopping! We’re lifer customers!
The staff are wonderful we had to put are 11 year old dog Diva to sleep today and they where very comforting hardest thing I have ever had to do I thank all their kindness
