We love the story and craft time every Tuesday at 11am. Also all the other special events for kids =
Today May 17, 2019 around 1800 to 1830 I went into the Shaw AFB library to return some books my mom checked out and to check out some books. Since I hadn't been in the library in years when I went to checkout the computer had my old information. The lady that was checking me out had my military ID that showed I was a spouse of a retired Air Force MSgt. Even with the federal issued ID she procedured to grill me on why the system show me as active duty I than told her that I am a veteran of the Air Force. Than she asked me why my father's name was showing and I than told her that my father was also retired military. And that before my marriage and military service I was his dependent. Than when she finally accepted that I was a spouse she than told me please return this books please don't get me in trouble. I was shocked that she said that but when she proceeded to repeat the same statement in mutiple ways. I let her know that she had nothing to worry about. I am a 41 year female and have never stolen anything in my life. And to be accused of being a thief why checking out at my local military library by someone who seem to have no clue about the military. To say it upset me would be a understatement. I think people have a right to feel how they want to feel about anyone. But if you are in customer service I expect you to be professional and I dont't think that is too much to ask.
The staff are amazing! We love story time every Tuesday at 10am, and Friday fundays for the kids at 4pm.
Helpful staff got me a library card during my two week TDY, and they have a great selection of DVDs. Keep up the great work, it's appreciated even by those who aren't permanent party at Shaw.
Is this place open for the public
I love the bookstore. There are a variety of resources. My favorite part is the massage chair in the back. Also the children's area is full of a variety of books, some toys, also computers and video games. And they have activities for the children every week if I'm not mistaken, I have attended about 3 of them and my daughter has enjoyed them a lot.
