McPherson Scottish Society's mission is to promote activities that reflect and promote the heritage and culture of Scotland, Ireland, Wales, and the other Celtic lands.
Why does McPherson host this event?
▪To attract visitors to the city of McPherson.
▪To celebrate the heritage of Scotland, Ireland and the other Celtic nations. ▪To encourage persons of Scottish, Irish, Welsh, and English family heritage and interest to connect with others of similar interest.
▪To educate adults, youth, and children to appreciate their own and other cultural heritages.
*According to U.S. Census data, more than eleven million Americans claim Scottish and Scots-Irish roots, making this the eighth largest ethnic group in the United States.
Two day traditional Scottish Festival in shady city park. Participants come from all across the U.S. and beyond.
Celtic music headliners.
Scottish and Irish dance.
Highland athletics such as the caber toss. National competitors include world record holders.
Children's mini Highland games and a passport game, plus crafts tent, miniature train, face painting.
New for children: Mini Pub Games and storytelling.
Scottish clans and genealogy tents.
Demonstrations. Border collies herding sheep. British car show. Highland cows. Clydesdale horses. Falcons and raptors. Renaissance sword fighting.
Scottish food such as meat pies and Scotch eggs.
