I went to the Behavioral Health Center initially to get Emotional Support Animal papers so I could bring my dog to college with me. The first time I called I specified that is what I wanted and everyone made it seem like it wasn't an issue. I arrived for my appointment and immediately felt very judged by the nurse practitioner I saw. When I was asked my religion and responded something other than Christian I was asked if I was "seeing or hearing things that weren't there". I then brought up concerns of undiagnosed ADHD because there is a history of it in my family and I have a lot of symptoms, I have a list of all of the traits I noticed in myself. This was met with doubt and the nurse never even asked about my list or to hear what symptoms my family and I have noticed. She then told me she thinks I have BPD based on one symptom I show. I know multiple people with BPD and all of them agree I don't have it. I also told her about something I worry about often and rather than reassure me that it was just paranoia which it is and I know and acknowledged that- I do have severe anxiety and am constantly paranoid about irrational things she went on a rant about how that specific thing is something I should be worried about. At the end of the session I mentioned getting my ESA papers since that is specifically what I went there for and the nurse told me she didn't think getting them for me would be a problem. She told me she would ask her supervisor and that I would just need to come back and pick them up. Four days later I called and asked if I could pick up my papers and was told I could go in whenever and get them. When I went in, the receptionist had no idea what I was talking about and told me I would need to schedule ANOTHER appointment to get them. So I did schedule another appointment but the day of that second appointment they called and cancelled it with absolutely no explanation other than her supervisor said they wouldn't do that paperwork for me. I am beyond angry and will never return to this place. If you want real, quality help, I suggest you look elsewhere.
I love my doctor's I see there but am constantly frustrated by the switchboard people, I leave messages and never get a call back and have to keep calling, I now going to the er bc I don't know what else to do. I also was stuck in construction omw to my last appointment, called n told them I'd be a little late, they said keep coming, just get here when you can, I arrived 10 mins late and waited over another 10 minutes while they helped another person, when they were done I was told I was over 15 mins late so they cancelled me, I don't live in Meadville and have to pay for rides so this was very frustrating, esp since they told me to keep coming and I was there bf 15 minutes. I like n respect the medical staff but I'm at the point I'm looking for a new provider.
This place works so hard. The doctors, CRNPs, PAs, nurses, and front staff are constantly talking, seeing, and handling hundreds of patients daily. Yes, they miss phone calls. Yes, things aren't done in 1 day. However, tasks are completed. Calls are returned if you left a voicemail. They are human and they service half of the COUNTY let alone the city. Give them a break.
My boys have the best PA at this doctors office, she always takes the time to talk with them and not just ask me what is going on.
Dr. Singh is a wonderful doctor. She listens to my concerns and takes them seriously. The problem I have is that it is very difficult to get prescriptions refilled. I have to call in on the phone line and leave a message and two times out of three the medication is not called in and no one calls me back to tell me why. I have had extreme difficulty getting essential medications including blood pressure medications refilled because staff either confuse the medication with a different medication that I am not taking and then do not fill it, or staff do not recognize the importance of refilling blood pressure medication in a timely manner. I have called three times now to get one of my blood pressure medications refilled and I have spoken to the nurse in the office about getting this medication refilled as well but it has not yet been called into my pharmacy. Another issue is that they only call in 30 days worth of medications. I am on 12 medications and it seems like I am constantly calling and calling and calling to find out if my medications have been called into the pharmacy and to request refills and then to follow up on the refills to find out whether or not they have been processed. Sometimes they seem to just decide not to refill the medication and don’t tell me. I have had medications abruptly stopped that should be tapered off and I have no idea why. I am not on any pain medications or anything that has abuse potential so I really don’t understand why this is such an issue. It seems like they treat everyone as some kind of addict and every medication including blood pressure medications as opiates.
I'm fairly certain that a new nurse or receptionist needs to be hired. Called to let the Doctor know that we were going to be a few minutes behind due to multiple construction sites and traffic from Franklin as well as being unfamiliar with the area. Sarcastic and snide responses as well as being told "the COMPUTER will reschedule after 6 minutes." We were basically told good luck and the call disconnected. If mental health services are your goal... Go elsewhere.
The doctors and nurses are great but the receptionists are terrible! They never answer the phone or call back. If you need to see your doctor, good luck because you’ll never get through!
I personally haven't had any trouble getting through on the phone and the wait has been no longer than 15 minutes. All staff has been very nice. Dr. McGovern is great and has treated me very well as well. She caught an ear infection and bronchitis when a few days before the meadville hospital dr. Was with me 5 minutes and didnt even check my ears or listen to my lungs.
The doctors and nurses I get are usually nice but when you call they rarely pick up the phone and never call you back and when they want to reschedule your appointment they don't even let you know
Meadville Community Health Center is top notch from start to finish in the whole patient care experience. The front office people are always kind and welcoming and they deal with a pretty rough public sometimes. They have always gone above and beyond for me as far as scheduling, printing doc notes they are awesome. The nursing staff in the back is equally kind and compassionate as they genuinely care about your concerns as they are taking your vitals in preparation of your Doctors visit. Lastly, two of the most thorough and compassionate caregivers I have ever had, and this includes big time hospital specialists in Pittsburgh are Stephanie Prenatt and Kasey Stover. The care that my wife and I have received from these two young ladies has been absolutely life changing. We thank you from the bottom of our hearts. Meadville Medical Center staff....you guys are ROCKSTARS.
