Update: this relative has passed away as we could not get a biopsy in time. No one from this clinic followed up with the Walker Cancer Clinic for three months to see why our referral had not been responded to. It is important to note that this relative couldn’t cognitively be relied to do the follow up themselves. However, when hearing back from the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario, I was informed that Anderson Lai no longer works at this clinic. Thank God. What I witnessed from Dr. Lai while accompanying an elderly family member to their appointment on July 17th 2023, 1:40pm at Medcare Clinics 7555 Montrose was absolutely horrifying. My family member was scheduled to discuss x-ray results. My elderly family member has very broken English and has obvious cognitive delays. While my family member was trying to explain their experience, Dr. Lai cut them off multiple times before I had to intervene and tell him that my family member is trying to tell him something. The doctor began arguing with my elderly relative, saying “I have a degree” in response to their questions, and became so impatient that he stood up and left us in the room. My relative and I didn’t realize that the appointment was over as he left my relatives records and private information still open on the computer. This was the first time I had accompanied my relative so I cannot imagine the treatment that was received when I wasn’t present. My heart breaks for everyone that has been mistreated and disrespected by this person who clearly has no consideration or knowledge on communicating with people respectfully, especially the elderly and those with disabilities. It is imperative to note the multiple negative 1 star reviews from other people mentioning that this doctor should not be practicing, dating back to 2020 when this Dr. was working at Millard Fillmore Suburban Hospital. It has become glaringly obvious that people need to be protected from this Dr. Multiple people have said that he has displayed unprofessionalism and suddenly left the room during appointments. I can’t imagine the amount of important information that has been missed by this behaviour. I hope that the safety of the public is taken into consideration, and that no one else has to experience being mistreated by Dr. Lai. I phoned the clinic the next day and told someone at the front desk what happened. They SIGHED, told me that if I didn’t want to see Dr. Lai then I’d have to go elsewhere. I believe that the negative experiences of people who have interacted with Dr. Lai need to be taken seriously as this person is interacting with vulnerable people on a daily basis, furthering opportunities for people to receive abusive treatment. I recommend immediate Human Rights education, as well as Accessibility training should anyone decide to continue to employ this unsafe Dr.
The way they treat patients is like they are doing a favour , I was told to wait 45 mins, so I stayed…but it took me 2 hrs and 20 mins for the doc to see me for just 2 mins exact. Everything was so unprofessional, and it is not the wait time but the way people handle clients here is very sad, and if someone has to wait 2 hrs 20 mins to get a medication prescription…I just hope this doesn’t happen with whosoever reads this , I would just want every staff member to ask themselves…they could be the one on the other side aswell, would they still like and get satisfied with the kinda service they give.
All the doctors are always kind to us. Yes there is a wait, but, even if you go to another clinic you need to wait, so I have no problem with that. There is one doctor that I love meeting. Doctor Sarah. She is nice and kind, and very respectful. It is very easy speaking to her because I have a language barrier. She speaks Hindi/Urdu and English. I would recommend her to people who have trouble speaking English.
I am writing to express my deep dissatisfaction with the services provided by MedCare Clinics. I believe it is essential to bring to your attention the unprofessional conduct and complete lack of empathy I experienced during my recent visit to your clinic. I find it necessary to express my concerns and inform you that I will be registering a complaint with the Government of Canada Health Board regarding your practice. Unfortunately, the manner in which my case was handled left me utterly disappointed and concerned about the level of professionalism and empathy exhibited by your staff and Doctors. First and foremost, I was appalled by the dismissive attitude displayed by front desk and doctor's. Your staff should wear name tags but they don't for a reason. Furthermore, the behavior of your clinic staff only compounded my negative experience. The receptionist at the front desk was unprofessional and discourteous. They lacked basic customer service skills and failed to address my inquiries promptly or with the respect that any patient deserves. This further added to my frustration and overall dissatisfaction with the services provided by your clinic. As a patient, I believe it is our right to receive quality healthcare services and be treated with compassion, respect, and empathy. The unprofessional conduct I experienced at MedCare Clinics is unacceptable and not in line with the standards expected from a medical facility. Therefore, I intend to file a formal complaint with the Government of Canada Health Board to ensure that this incident is thoroughly investigated and appropriate measures are taken to address the issues raised. I strongly believe that every patient deserves better treatment and that this complaint is necessary to ensure the provision of quality healthcare services in our community. I urge you to take my concerns seriously and address them promptly. I expect to receive a written response detailing the steps you intend to take to rectify the situation and prevent such incidents from occurring in the future. Please consider this review as an official record of my complaint, and I request a copy of the response for my records. I trust that you will treat this matter with the seriousness it deserves and take appropriate action to rectify the shortcomings in your clinic's practices. Thank you for your immediate attention to this matter.
I've been going here for 5 years as a patient and it's always proven to be massively unhelpful. It takes forever to see someone, there are no appointments, you are treated as a brief walk in patient. There is no investigation into chronic issues without substantial evidence. Most doctors have been pleasant except for one exception. After seeing Dr. Lai, I will be immediately looking for alternative healthcare. I have never met a more inconsiderate, uninterested, ignorant, and egotistical person in my ENTIRE life let alone a medical professional in the health care service industry. Interrupting me while talking, sarcasm, power tripping, and narcissism. I was persistent with my issues and rightfully skeptical of his surface level diagnosis, although as always, maintained being respectful to him. He did not return an iota of respect in any way. The structure of this office will not help with anything more than quick, minor issues which you will wait far too long for.
I went here at 10:30 they said it would be 1 hour wait.. I asked when they would be taking me in at 11:30 they still said an hour. They took me in at 12:30. The secretaries are rude. They talk to you in a raised voice and in a rude manner. Some doctors are very nice, understanding and help you a lot. Others don’t care about your complaints. Don’t help you at all especially with understanding what your problem is. They ignore your problems I had to repeat myself over and over again because he didn’t help and was ignorant. For the wait time the least you can do is help us.
worst ever experience. I spent more then 3 hours in waiting and when I see the doctor he did not even listen to me, just ignored me. I was keep telling him over and over about my problems that I am feeling weekness since 2 weeks and having cough and fever but he just ignored me and said you are ok you dont need to go for blood work. I needed to get my blood work done and he said you do not need to go for blood work and also said GO TO ANOTHER DOCTOR and just walk away RUDELY. After that I went to Walmart Clinic and the doctor listen to me and also recommend me for blood work by himself I did not even ask for that. I dont even want to give him that one star too. If he dont want to serve people, He should quit the job.
Terrible experience here today. Dr.Lai is everything that is wrong with healthcare in Ontario. Uncaring, entitled, listened for 30 seconds and is way more interested in working for the pharmaceutical companies than for his patients. Did not listen to my issues and was disgustingly rude and arrogant when I asked questions. His response was to get a primary doctor, and when I responded with the fact that they were hard to come by, he answered “I know” and left the room. Complete waste of 3 hours of my day and all I got was a prescription for heavy duty drugs that are not going to solve my problem. Stay away from this clinic and Dr. Lai.
Front staff was nice and friendly. I met with someone, the x-ray requisition said it was Rakesh Chawla... I don't think I met with that person. Maybe a physicians assistant... she didn't introduce herself. I went in with a fever and a cough due to chest congestion of over two weeks and upper abdominal pain. She did not take my temperature, she listened to my breathing over my shirt, and did not even palpate the upper abdomen at all. What she did do was almost perforate my ear drum with her technique of looking in someone's ear. She will definitely cause ear damage to people in the future with how she does that. Told me to keep doing what I was doing, and in the same breathe that a fever shouldn't last that long.. Will not be returning.
Came here to refill a prescription before I left on vacation, dropped off the old bottle and script at their prescription counter and was advised to have a seat. The waiting area only had a few people in it, almost all of which were here to see a physician. I’m a pretty patient person however, I saw a few other people who arrived after me have their prescriptions filled and went about their day. After about 45 minutes, even I grew impatient and approached the counter to enquire if there were any issues with my documentation. They advised they just forgot to call my name out and handed over my prescription. Just incredibly unprofessional. I sound like a “Karen”, but come on now.
