Love going back to my childhood haunts - even if they have changed over the years! And they will soon be renovating the library yet again, this time including a complete overhaul. So the temporary location of the Library will be located in the Auditorium &/or Kindergarten of the Decoys Beebe School located on W. Foster Street - and it will reside there thru the renovation & repair phases! This is my former elementary school, so this will be fun to revisit there as well...while helping the nephew's & granddaughter pick out their reading materials!
I absolutely love this place. It’s an ideal place for anyone who wants to get lost in the world of books. The staff is super friendly. They have reading areas where you can work or study. I bring my laptop and books to study here. They’ve got a pretty huge collection of books too!
Concerning how much debris and hodgepodge items are haphazardly left around the library. If this was a property I managed I would be livid with the people I’ve left in charge to keep it maintained. I’m not talking about the leaking ceiling either. The junk on empty dusty shelves, empty shipping boxes under the newspaper stand next to empty filing card system. I could go on but I won’t. It’s heart breaking to see the decay in real time at a beloved staple.
Great selection of books and amazing staff. I am really grateful for how efficiently they have handled things during the pandemic. Hands down one of my most favorite places in Melrose!
Teens 6 to 12 year oldhave their own space reserved every day from 2 to 5 PM. Staff is very friendly. The local library is not too big but a charming place to come to. It is also well managed.
Very clean local library with a great selection of books. Renewing books online are great and dropping them off in the bin outside the building makes things convenient. Very friendly staff as well. I should spend more time at the library honestly.
A beautiful Carnegie library, tastefully extended in the mid-20th century. On the National Register of Historic Places. Pleasantly laid out. As with all libraries in suburban Boston, the collection is small, but we often find titles of interest. And they will cheerfully order any book in or out of network. Parking is convenient and free. Finally, what about the staff, especially the night circulation staff? Best. Librarians. Ever. They are the real reason we are always here instead of at the libraries in the towns in which we live or used to live.
Nicest, most knowledgeable staff of any library I've been to in Massachusetts and I've been to a lot of them. Good selection of books, plus access to thousands and thousands of additional books and resources through the NOBLE network.
The selection of books and reading materials is quite good, and when topped off with an outstanding staff it becomes a real community treasure.
Great place for kids. Always something happening: : The librarians are helpful and nice. Parking is easy and free.
