Mercy New Life Hospice, Main Office 3500 Kolbe Lorain, Ohio
Our philosophy
Hospice is not a place, but a holistic way of receiving end-of-life care. New Life Hospice celebrates life. We believe that dying is a life experience. We believe that the terminally ill and their families require special care, and that the ministry and work of New Life affirms and upholds the sanctity of life.
Where we offer care:
Your own home
Nursing homes
Assisted living facilities
New Life Hospice Center of St. Joseph
What we offer:
A full complement of end-of-life care services
Education for physicians and staff
Inpatient care at New Life Hospice Center of St. Joseph, providing home-like care to patients who need it, 24 hours a day
Hospice care is made available when:
Approved by a physician
The patient desires hospice services
The patient has a life expectancy of months
Who provides hospice care? Care is provided by a team comprising family members, physicians, nurses, nurse's aides, social workers, chaplain, volunteers, art therapists and a medical director.
Treatment is comfort-oriented, rather than curative.
Hospice treats the person, rather than the disease. It allows terminally ill patients and their families to experience the end of life together, in the comfort and security of home, or in a home-like setting.
