Dr Michelle Evanko has to be the least empathetic and least helpful doctor I’ve ever seen. She found a tumor on my liver, told me to try antacids for it, and gave me the information for a specialist that can’t help me because they’re the wrong kind of specialist. She did not make a mistake due to being busy, my visit to the emergency department was at four in the morning, and I was the only patient there. When I tried asking her what she recommended for follow up steps, a care, plan, recommendations for how to help the pain, she said she didn’t really have any except to keep trying antacids. Trying to get her to help me was like pulling teeth. On the plus side, this facility is really clean, and if you go in the middle of the night, they’re very quick to see you and get your labs/imaging done.
I was asked if I wanted to pay my bill before my visit was completed and was told I was given a 20 percent discount off since I had made a complaint. Come to find out that is offered to everybody and is only good for up to 7 days after u are seen. I called no assistant just was told they couldn’t offer. I don’t know what I don’t know. U needed to inform me and I would have paid the bill on full right there. This is my 2nd bad experience. I have learned my lesson will not ever go back to this place it’s awful. If u want good care don’t go yo this location.
I go to the Rookwood Medical Center annually for bloodwork and the front desk staff and phlebotomists are always friendly and helpful. The facility is new and clean and for lab work you are in and out quickly!
I am so utterly disappointed, disgusted and appalled by service of this hospital, and extremely high cost. I went to an urgent care first because I was extremely dehydrated from food poisoning and was throwing up for over 48 hours. They told me to go to a hospital for an IV because I needed fluids. I was vulnerable, extremely sick, and desperate for help. I went to this hospital for help and after waiting for a long time to be seen I finally got into a room and then waited even longer to be treated. I was in the hospital for over 4 hours and the amount of time that a nurse or doctor was actually in the room was about a total of 10 minutes. When my boyfriend came to visit in the hospital they were extremely rude to him when he asked if he could go to my room. When I was trying to explain to the nurse what had happened to me she said "let's skip the story time and actually tell me what happened." It made me super uncomfortable, she said it in a super rude tone and I was struggling to get out words with how dehydrated and miserable I was. All I probably needed was and IV, but they insisted on doing a scan, taking blood and urine, and ultimately I feel like they were just trying to rack up a higher bill. I NOW HAVE BILLS OVER $3000 AND THATS WITH HEALTH INSURANCE. I am so utterly heartbroken that I not only felt like it was a horrible experience but now I'm crying trying to figure out how I'm going to pay this bill. You go to places like this to feel better and I can't believe I was taken advantage of like this. Please never go here.
The nurse was very rude. When I commented to the doctor that I had been waiting awhile, she just said "I'm leaving" and refused to treat me. How does that work with the hypocritic oath?
The nurses wouldn’t listen to me when I told them that it was impossible to sign papers ,because I had fallen on my dominant hand , which had swelled with lots of pain. Guess I had to be bleeding to be taken seriously!!! The doctor was great …
Nurse Mary Jo I think that was her name and the Dr never informed me on my treatment plan. They gave me zero information. I had been vomiting for 2 weeks straight unable to keep anything down. I was taken straight back but then waited several hours before the nurse came in. There wasn't anyone in the waiting room. It was on a Sunday afternoon. ***The nurse said that I was going to be there all day because of all the tests they wanted to do. I asked what tests and what the treatment plan was. The nurse slammed her hands on this table and said "fine I'll just cancel everything!" I NEVER said anything about cancelling anything. I just kept literally begging her, no please don't do that and that I just wanted to know what was going on. I had to lay there sick as a dog and beg her to still help me and how sorry I was to upset her. -This is unacceptable and should not have happened.*** She said that they were very busy and short staffed and that the Dr was too busy to come into my room and explain anything. The nurse either couldn't or wouldn't explain anything to me, like what they wanted to do to me, test me for or what the tests even were. She was very upset and angry. She was snapping at other staff members too. She was angry that I pulled the blanket over my eyes because the light was hurting my eyes. Everything I did sent this nurse over the edge/she'd get real cranky and say smart things to me. ***I can't begin to explain how scared I was to be at this lady's mercy, especially for how sick I was. I couldn't even walk and almost fell out of the bed several times. I was starting to get panic attacks and asked if my boyfriend could come into my room because of this. The nurse said I would have to pass a COVID test, get the results back in an hour and then he could come back into my room. I told her I tested negative at home but she said it didn't matter. A different nurse does the COVID tests and immediately afterwards says they'll get the results back tomorrow. So the first nurse made me get tested for COVID for no clear reason imo. Since the results wouldn't come back till tomorrow, there was no point in doing it just so my boyfriend could be with me. They never let him into my room. I just can't explain how scared I was at this place and felt no one cared. I was yelling for the nurse to help me and no one could hear me. My room was right across from the nurse station. I called my boyfriend with my cell phone in the waiting room and he told the lady at the front desk that I needed help. The front desk lady came back immediately, she couldn't find the nurse so she was the one to help me. Still waiting on this place to get back to me so leaving a review to warn people. Also they gave me a bill for $4K and all they did was give me and IV and COVID test. They never sent me an itemized bill explaining what the charge was for.
I cannot believe I have to write this review. Put the address in gos, saw the 2 star rating, decided to ignore reading the reviews, thinking most were probably wait time and billing issues because that’s typical issues I see people complain about. I was wrong. I’m lucky that I know my own health and body, and that’s what got me through it. Based on my experience, the reviews here and go look at their other google account for the Rookwood med center, they have almost 100 reviews, are legitimate. I knew what my diagnosis would be, just wasn’t sure how bad. The nurse, Nita, was rude, cold, showed no emotion, only spoke or looked at me when absolutely necessary, short and rude. Whatever, I can deal with **. Well, IV time, she puts in the tourniquet, doesn’t wait to find a vein which are easy, I get bit IV every two weeks and have been having blood drawn regularly for the past 3 years, so I know what it’s supposed to be like. She sticks me, I experienced such pain that I immediately screamed no way anyone on that floor didn’t hear, I scream “STOP, THAT HURTS, TAKE IT OUT! STOP! TAKE IT OUT!”, my body buckled, she held my arm down harder and fished, as I’m still yelling to take it out. I assessed stoping her myself, but she already posed a risk to me and I wasn’t going to elevate that. She says nothing. Hurries and takes my blood, still says nothing. After she’s finished with what she needed to do- I asked if not listening to patients was a normal thing, she said nothing, I said “when a patient tells you to stop something, is that normal protocol to continue doing it anyway? She says, “isn’t the outcome good though?” I said, No! You didn’t know that! You assumed, and fished for the vein. She says, “it’s an IV, it’s going to hurt” I told her, No! I get these regularly and this is not okay. She says “well, do you want me to take it out?” I said, well now you’re just being… She knew what she was being, I didn’t need to finish Not hiding how satisfied she was for this outcome, she finally says “well I’m sorry”, I said No, I don’t think you. She left. I did tell the doc and said I’d like not to see her again - which she came back in to poke her head in later, not for anything, just to do it. But another nurse finished my needs they only had 2. The doc at first looked at me like it wasn’t an option to have another nurse, and says “I only have 2” I don’t her, I understand, but that was not acceptable. It’s unfortunate that there’s nearly 120 reviews off their 2 google accounts, and they have a 2 star rating, and it’s legitimate. I would recommend not going at all no wonder the waiting room was nearly empty, but at least if you have to go, break your back to make sure you have a family member in the room with you at all times. This never would have happened had there been a witness. FYI, I wasn’t in a life or death situation, I have a high pain tolerance, and I’ve had illnesses my entire life that’s required IVs, so this was unnecessary, and she knew what she was doing.
Rude nurses wouldn’t recommend I should’ve went to uc where I belong. I don’t think they like black people. Will not ever come back
They are usually pretty good and wait times are usually decent but my girlfriend was referred to this place by an urgent care because she needed tests done that day and the doctor was very rude and scolded us on how our situation wasn’t an emergency. She was in so much pain and the doctor told us that this wasn’t an emergency. It is not her right to tell us that her pain isn’t an emergency. The front desk checked her in and seemed to think it was an emergency and the doctor refused to help her and we were still billed a ridiculous amount.
