Not quite sure how to rate and/or review this place. One thing I’m sure though, is that this place must have had its glory days quite a while ago! Nice, spacious and was quite well decorated, the afternoon sun streaming in shows how aged this restaurant is. The food? Hmmmm….. I had the Katsudonburi and this is the first time I’ve had this served with some weird brown and sour sauce; no eggs, very dry rice underneath it - to the point that I just had to ask the waitress - is this Japanese food? Lol - Very nice, pleasant young lady who asks us several times if everything is ok - kudos to her! My better half had the beef curry rice and it came out just a small blob of beef not tasty at all according to her over a pile of potatoes over the rice. Hmmm…! The tempura udon at least looks decent and served properly with it in a separate plate from the udon - not bad even though the tempura is quite greasy. I was really hoping this place would serve better food, especially since it is quite cheap and convenient for me, but…..! Oh well, can’t have everything I guess! Our waitress Julia? though is great!
We ordered crunchy gogo, ex boyfriend roll and California roll. Everything taste good! The place is so nice too!
The food is here is very nice. I loved the salmon salad, there was a great balance of salmon and salad and it was not too spicy. My favourite was the sushi plater where you could get a sample of 8 different kinds of fish/seafood. On top of that the lady server was very nice.
Friendly and welcoming environment. Consistently good sushi and reasonable prices. Sure, it would be nice if they updated the look and tidied up the decor but that would mean an increase in prices. Great for a quick bite, late night meal or takeout. In this case, I will say why change a good thing if it’s working? When it comes to sushi I say just keep it fresh, keep it clean and keep it simple and keep it affordable! This place has succeeded in doing to.
Located on the second floor, this restaurant has a gorgeous waiting/reception area, and a cozy interior. We went in the evening, and there was a lot of seating available. The food was very well made and presented, and as a vegetarian I really appreciate how delicious the options were. That being said, my friend loved the fish and meat options that they had, especially in their specialty rolls. Strong recommendation from me! Vegetarian options: Although not the most comprehensive, they have a good selection of vegetarian options, in every section of the menu.
I visit Masa regularly, as well as place orders to go. The sushi rolls are my favorite. The the servers are very friendly, although sometimes there can be longer wait times based on how busy the restaurant is. The prices are very reasonable and you never leave hungry. The cleanliness of the restaurant bathrooms and floors could definitely use improvement, though for the most part the tables are kept clean. There is not much parking available, so it is definitely a place to check out while on foot. I would recommend avoid walking alone near this part of West Broadway at night, as there are sometimes people hanging out in front of the store next door by Hemlock. Overall, I enjoy the food and prices here.
Everything was average. The ambient and interior felt cheap and the food was sub par. We got chicken udon which was a bit too salty, miso ramen which was not fresh, and a dynamite roll which was okay. Wouldn't come back.
One of the best ramen and kimchi rice. Amazing customer service. Cozy cute place.
food is good, price is reasonable for 2022, staff were great and the restaurant looks very cozy and cute! The only con was the choice of music. It was almost unbearable to hear that same soft voiced girl singing pop hits for hours on end... My family and I may not come back because of that.
One of the only sushi places open late and for people like me that work till 2am-4am it was so great to have this choice. Also very good vegetarian options, for those with sensitive stomachs or veggies heads this is a great place. Thank you for opening so late me and my co-worker appreciate you. <3
