Been awhile since last visiting Thrall Library. When living in Middletown several times also stopped in at their book store to purchase several of books. I do enjoy reading books especially the ones of interest. Numerous changes and declines have occurred over the years. Not what it once was when I attended middle and high schools. It’s become more of a hang out spot than an area for peace and quiet times. Too many people hanging out in close proximity some up to no good makes it a huge turn off and safety risks.
Beautiful library with so much history. Libraries are truly magical. The staff is so friendly and the architecture is amazing. The library used to be a train station and it's quite the sight to see!
Library is nice, parking a bit cramped, but the staff, security as well all have the manners and couth of a road kill honey badger on a hot summer day. If you or are with someone with a disability stay away. They do not want you there :/
Lovely old building, used to be the railway station. Simply Love it. Stuff are very nice and helpful.
Very nice library. Always clean and organized. There are cash and coin operated copy machine, fax service, internet access, online color printing, books, free movies app. Download the Kanopy app to enjoy many DVDs and animes with your library card.
Overall a good library but could use a few import changes. There is a shortage of individual places to study. They need to do away with the big tables in the reading room and replace with cubicles or individual tables. That room could hold 20 cubicles. There is a culture of talking with their doors open for extended periods of time. It’s tough study in these circumstances and encourage the staff to keep doors closed and voices low.
Best library in orange county news York friendly staff & security officers so ur always safe free computer to work or play on free DVDs u can borrow to and most of all very clean bathrooms
I've been here twice. Security was rude both times. The librarians are however always friendly and very helpful. I was taking a CPR/first aid class today. I called the director days before in regards she never returned my call to my knowledge. Had I been able to speak to her perhaps the miscommunication would have been resolved. Security interrupted the class several times as we are trying to learn live saving skills. Very unprofessional in my opinion. The class instructor was not aware of library summer hours. The class was cut short hopefully I did not miss something important that will effect a child at my job. Clearly something went wrong with communication. The instructor of the class said she always begins at 10:30 the library had posted it began at 10. Even if the class started at 10 it was still not enough time for the full course so I'm not sure how the communication of a location holding such a important life skill course could mess that up so badly. I did not appreciate how I was spoken to by security my first time here or how the instructor was spoken to this second time I was here today. I've never had any types of issues like this at the Newburgh Free Library where I used to almost ever summer attend programs there. The librarians have not always been the friendliest there however they were always pretty professional none the less but have never had any issues with security. There were also several times there were loud individuals walking around near where the meeting room is located that also distracted me and perhaps others in the class as well. Am not happy about any of this. If you are going to hold a class as important as this I think all the details should be addressed before during the class and causing interruptions several times also as I've mentioned the class was cut short.
Not welcoming to people with disabilities at all.
I have been going to this library for almost my entire life. The majority of the staff are kind, friendly, helpful people. They have a large, wide-ranging selection of books as any good library should! and the place is quiet and peaceful. Housed in a historical train station, it has beautiful wooden architecture in a style and condition extremely hard to find in this part of New York with places like the O&W station falling into ruin in other parts of the city. Would recommend to any local.
