Mikado

Took granddaughters here for hibachi for one’s birthday tonight. Food was mediocre—little taste and the oil for the grill tasted old. I would rate the food and service a 3. However, on a bill of nearly $114 before tax, I left a $26 tip. I had already tipped the chef $10 at the end of his cooking. You do the math! I always tip 20% and usually on pretax. The hostess brought everything back to say I didn’t leave enough—she wanted 20% on the bottom line. “We have to pay the chef”. My explanations all of a sudden did not seem to be understood. I have never been insulted like this in any restaurant…in most states in this country and on three continents! We are from out of town, but visit the Cape Ann area often because we have family here. Other members of our family visit here for the same reason. And all of us spend a lot of money in area restaurants. Suffice it to say, no more of my food dollars, or that of my extended family and hopefully many of our local friends, will be going to the Mikado.

Everything is just horrible!!! Food is bad: the scallion pancake was like from a fast food restaurant a lot of oil, over-fried, the rice in sushi was not well cooked, the roll was a tiny 6-piece one absolutely overpriced, the miso soup didn't have any taste, the fried-rice was not cooked well. Utensils were dirty. So we ate everything without any appetite. But what was absolutely shocking is the service. The waiter was very unfriendly, and at the end he came up to say that tips are not satisfying!!! This is absolutely insulting! Never in our life my husband and I had such a terrible experience.

I want to like this place more. I love teppanyaki dining. The chef was entertaining. But I was disappointed with the calamari - unrecognizable and with an unpleasant rubbery texture - and the chicken was just passable. I will find a different teppanyaki place next time.

Aggressive chef would not stop spraying my daughter's very young in the face with water while yelling SAKE. Even after asking. They were literally crying. Really uncomfortable.Food: 3/5

Always pleased with Mikado. Lovely staff. My husband loves the all you can eat sushi buffet.

Some of the best sushi I have ever had. The sauces on the sushi bring it to th next level! The ingredients were very fresh. Ordered calamari as an app, it was so-so. Good flavor, a little overcooked and rubbery. Sushi blew us away! Fun atmosphere, decent prices. Will be back for sure!

The food was okay, the drinks could use a little kick. And the service was horrible from the minute we got there they were rushing us out. The cook on the grill was fun though and entertaining but he cooked the food in a rush. I'm giving yall a 3 because I did enjoy my time when I didn't pay mind to y'all staring and rushing us to order but the cook was funny and he entertained us.

Little pricey but great food. They have sunday all day sushi buffet and the sushi was great. We also had mixed seafood which also tasted very good. Highly recommend.

Extremely fast service... Almost too fast. Food was good and reasonably priced. Would recommend to friends and we will be back.
