Milwaukie High School

Description

Milwaukie High School is a public high school located in Milwaukie, Oregon, United States. It is one of three high schools within the North Clackamas School District. The school's mascot is the mustang, and its colors are maroon and gold.HistoryMilwaukie High School dates back to 1907. Originally constructed in 1925, the oldest portion of the three-story building that houses the school today is one of the oldest buildings in the city of Milwaukie. The school's first mascot, the Maroon, fell into disfavor with students because of its similarity to the word "moron." The student body voted on a new mascot and as a result the mustang was chosen. In 2005, the school added the Milwaukie Academy of the Arts to its campus. This charter school operates in conjunction with Milwaukie High School's main campus to offer a full course catalog. The school focuses on integrating the arts into core school subject areas. In 2008-2009, the school underwent a significant renovation of its music and athletic facilities.Living History DaySince 1996, Milwaukie High School has annually hosted the nationally recognized Living History Day. On this day thousands of veterans are welcomed into the school to help educate students about past wars, and provide first-hand accounts of military experiences. Unfortunately, this was cut in 2010 to lack of funding and staffing reductions.AcademicsIn 2014, out of 260 seniors, 220 graduated, for an 83% graduation rate.

Lost a huge job opportunity because they wouldn’t allow me to get my transcripts at all. The person who ‘deals’ with all the transcripts was out and NO ONE ELSE could help me.. I wasn’t able to get the job of my dreams because of them. Seems pretty ridiculous that not a single other person could simply look up and print out my transcripts, which I offered to come and pick up multiple times. Thanks a whole lot Milwaukie High School office staff.
The school is great. The teachers are super kind, but the classes are hard. You really feel like your class is another family. Sad to see blacksmith retire, and I’m sad I can’t stay here and graduate as a MAA Student.
This school has the worst IEP Instructors they do not try hard at all with what you as a parent want for your child to succeed in school and they don’t care about your child’s disability or learning disabilities all they care about is them getting paid.
Never answers the phone. I wouldn’t even bother calling this school because nobody ever answers and nobody ever calls you back. If you have any questions or need help you’ll have to go in person.
Whenever i search for Milwaukie High School, i get this which is not valid to my search. Whenever i try to fix the problem by adding Milwaukie High School to the map, it gets falsely lumped in with this, the Gym, or the Football Field. STOP PRETENDING THAT THE HIGH SCHOOL AND ARTS ACADEMY ARE THE SAME THING!
I'm a parent of a student. From my pov, classes are fine. Inclusive, proactive community. Caring, qualified teachers, counselors, and admin. I'm happy she's there.
The school is really one of a kind, the teachers and staff care about the student and want to see the succeed academics Are on point and there arts programs are outstanding
School was very strict when i first started attending it as an adult, but other then that, the teachers and staff were very freindly and caring, this is also where i first met my best teacher ever aaron brown and have been working with him ever since, the cafeteria was cool too and the school activitys i did here were cool too, the whole school was awesome in getting me through the program as well and i graduated it with mrs cornell who is also the best teacher ever, i love this school and enjoy it more then ever,
