The mission of the Oregon Recovery High School Initiative (ORHSI) is to provide a safe, sober and supportive gold standard education for youth in recovery.
A recovery high school is just like any other high school, offering an accredited education with one major difference - it is a sober environment meant to support young students who have been through treatment and are in a twelve step recovery program. In addition to the education component of teachers and administrators, the recovery high school will provide a healthcare/therapeutic component, and a research component. Separate from the school, but essential to its success will be the social support network for the students, called Alternative Peer Groups (APG). APG’s are where students learn real life coping skills, tools, and most importantly, have FUN.
