OK, so here's the thing. This used to be *the* Park and Ride before the Orange MAX stop opened about a half-mile up McLoughlin. This Park and Ride has *way* more spots than that one, and it was always full, even when it was mostly serviced by the 33 and 99. Now, the MAX serves way more people but offers way less parking. You do the math. So why am I rating this five stars? Because there's acres and acres of parking, I can park here and ride my bike in to work, or I can park here and walk up to the MAX. It's reliable, luxurious, and vaguely wasteful. It's, like, the closest thing to a private jet I will ever have, and yet it doesn't cost me a dime. I'm sure it's only a matter of time until TriMet takes this away from me, like they took away my 99 Express from Oregon City. They will break my heart. They always do. But for now, while literally *any one* of a thousand spots is extravagantly available to me, any time, day or night, the Milwaukie Park and Ride gets my five stars.
Good News: Ample parking any time, any day. Bad News: Poor bus service and no light rail service. UPDATE, 8/2/22: Downgraded from two stars to one. Pandemic related transit service cuts in most of Clackamas County have been devastating. To make matters worse, TriMet has found it in their infinite wisdom to remove all of the bus shelters and other rider amenities from this park and ride facility. If transit is your only option right now, head north and use the Tacoma Park and Ride Lot instead. Although, transit service is there is sadly not much better these days. Otherwise, I no longer recommend using transit in this part of town. Service is too infrequent, unreliable, and unsafe.
No idea where or how anyone is supposed to ride from here, but it's enormous, usually empty, lots of lights and cameras, and a perfect spot to hop on the Springwater Corridor bike trail if you don't have easy access to ride there directly. The lot itself is a Strava segment, though don't think it's an easy KOM, some dude apparently once did a full criterium race by himself here.
Great Park and Ride, but docked a star as it is hard to get to. If you try to use the Orange line either max stations are about a mile away and only two buses that service this lot can take you to those max stops. Why this wasn't included in the stops for the Orange line seems like a MAJOR OVERSIGHT on Trimet's part, especially due to the lack of parking the orange line has anyways. If they could only see that there is 300 spaces that could be easily better used by a shuttle bus, perhaps it would see more use. Trimet fails, like usual.
Whether early morning or late night this location has always felt safe and welcoming.
never anybody here.. I think it's a waste of space they should put to better use then sitting empty
Lots of parking, very secure and safe.
Never full good place to teach someone to drive or ride motorcycles
TriMet’s first Park and Ride Museum.
Park your car. Then Ride. Orange line, baby.
