Amazing place. Museum is a must kids had a blast. I could be here all day.
The grounds are beautiful to walk around and learn all the history about this mission. Everything is well kept, you can do a self guided tour, in the museum artifacts from the working mission from long ago are on display. Complete the tour with the church and the cemetery is beautiful and so serene.
Beautiful place with a long by American standards---not so much by colonial Spanish standards or European standards. Anything in the western US that dates to the 18th century is worthy of study. Brought our kids here back over the holidays in 2007 while visiting the in-laws. I also enjoyed the US/Mexico War connection.
Attended the Day of the Dead event at the mission. The mission was beautiful, and the day was perfect for an outside festival. There was food, crafts, and altars. The mission was a perfect place to host the event. The church is beautiful and the grounds well groomed. It was well attended and only cost $2.00 a person entrance fee. My only suggestion is they assign people to control the parking logistics. It was very confusing, snd without direction, it was needlessly stressful. They sold many food items, and there was lawn seating, but some tables and chairs would have nice, but the grass worked out. Very pleasant day activity.
Open house cemetery and garden tour. Lovely chance to explore and learn about this important historic gem on a picture perfect day. Bonus, altars from recent Dia de Los Muertos were still on display
Beautiful, beautiful mission. Wish alot more of the grounds were open to public. The museum could be a bit bigger considering how big the grounds are.
Beautifully kept, sprawling, and still in service. This is one of the most pristine of the missions and arguably the largest. Worth a visit -you can also see here the first Pepper Tree planted in California.
Beautiful mission. Well worth the visit, especially if you are a California mission enthusiast. Nicely maintained.
Absolutely beautiful & well kept grounds, the holy Catholic Mission & Church are a must see! Stunning original frescos inside the old historic mission have been painstakingly preserved for generations to come,a gift to all.All the sacraments are offered here in the most beautiful setting in one of the oldest historical California missions.Learn its history at the museum located on the property along side the gift store.God is alive in this amazingly beautiful Holy Catholic Mission & Church.Bulletins available, come find what you've been seeking.Spiritual teachings are available for all ages.
This is an interesting place to come visit if you are in the area. The biggest suprise for me, honestly, was seeing Abraham Lincoln's real signature on a document in an old Misson in Oceanside, CA of all places!
