Built in 1969 on the banks of Vermont's largest river, Otter Creek.
The original owner, Ron Mainelli, was inspired by the New York coffee houses he had visited. One particular coffee house caught his fancy-walking in on the street level, then descending down to the dark and often smokey bar below-Mrs. Downs became Mister Up's.
