Modern Business School of New York

About

Founded in Upstate New York, the Modern Business School helps visionary high school students build and lead ethical businesses.

Mission

When we focus on creating value for others, we ultimately accrue the greatest value to ourselves.
The Modern Business School of New York aims to revitalize and prepare the next generation for the future they will face. While the MBSNY attracts a global audience of students, designers, innovators, and entrepreneurs, it is a U.S. based response to this critical moment of cultural division, confusion, and disengagement. In 2019, we live in a mainstream culture that is often manic, lopsided, grief-stricken or shallow. This favors quick wins over hard truths, short-term satisfaction of egos over a sustained sense of deep belonging and connection. We see a dominant culture struggling to manage its collective anxiety, but passing it onto the next generation. The future holds unforeseen possibilities, potential, and hardship. Some members of this youngest generation are opting out of all forms of meaningful engagement. Others are struggling to identify ways to matter as citizens and as workers. In this context, we created the Modern Business School of New York.
Nonetheless, we recognize an acceleration of a more enlightened consciousness among today’s youth -- one that understands exactly what is at stake. We believe that it is these capable, hungry, balanced minds and hearts that will devise humanity’s way forward. These are the emergent leaders eager to find others with whom to construct a future -- a future in which human beings make profound leaps in their creative power, material, social and spiritual well being, and in a shared commitment to sustain life on the planet.
These are the hearts and minds that we cannot afford to lose. They will not be co-opted into a comfortable, short-term material existence that begins with entry-level corporate jobs and is lulled into an endless cycle of shallow consumption, near-term satisfaction and waste. When one is 18- 19 years old, one can see raw injustices without making excuses, and one can view the world free of cynicism, with an optimism about how one’s unique gifts can change the world. We seek to ensure that powerful young minds are nurtured and supported at this critical stage of their lives.
The MBSNY is designed for young trailblazers who will work with some of the most creative entrepreneurs, inventors, coaches and educators. They will engage in an immersion experience designed to transform each student’s life, as well as to transform our collective future.
More than the need to protect young people from the violence, injustice, and intolerance of the world, we need to unleash their bold energy and channel this generation’s creativity and longing towards a sustainable future.
