Description

Our story opens to a bank robbery gone wrong, where Jody and Liz Froggy who are brother and sister, run into Mr. Willie Shoeshine. Mr. Shoeshine is a Pastor, who comes into the bank on a Monday morning to make his usual monthly deposit. This is where he meets Mack Dollar, the bank owner, who assists Mr. Shoeshine in making his morning transaction. The upbeat chatter and friendly conversation is suddenly broken when Jody and Liz enter the bank screaming, ranting and raving with guns drawn. Mr. Shoeshine becomes fearful and reflective as he begs them to reconsider their actions. Mack Dollar is a witness to all that has taken place only to realize his purpose is greater than simply running a bank but that he must deliver an important message of a dying man’s last wishes.
Momma also known as Ms. Dyane, sits around discussing the powerful word that was preached by her husband on Sunday, with her kids Shun, Marshall and Rachel, who are all back at the house when they receive the troubling news. The aftermath is too much for the family to bear. They realize that things have gotten out of hand at the bank and have suddenly taken a turn for the worst. The temperature quickly rises in the room as emotions become hard to control.
Soon Mr. Eddie Johnson, the town Councilman, and his wife, a high school Principal, enter the scene to show their support to the Shoeshine family during their time of grievance. Mr. Eddie Johnson is not as upstanding as he first appears as he has a secret to hide and somehow Rachel is involved. He fears that what was done in the dark may surely come into the light. Mrs. Johnson has her own battles to fight when the secrets begin to unravel.
Momma on the other hand, the strength and rock of the family, works to continue past recent events but finds that life has led her down an uncharted path. Momma struggles with feelings of guilt and somberness when Mr. Jumbo enters her life. Mr. Jumbo has many interests. However, he quickly realizes that the thing he is interested in most is a woman who is harder than most to attain. She discovers Joy, a boy who was abandoned by his mom at an early age.
Momma and Joy’s relationship become closer than Marshall can stand. She is the oldest sibling and does not understand what it is that Joy offers her mother. Marshall does everything in her power to prevent Joy from being comfortable in his new found family. Although Marshall is a teacher, she does not show it. She believes that everyone should bend to her desires, even Momma, and is blinded to the fact that she is not always right. Marshall is not all bad as she is protective of her sister Rachel who has not been forthright in telling her the truth about her latest drama.
While Liz on the other hand, has plenty of time to reflect over her life. She is confined to prison and is consumed by guilt, as she struggles to overcome the fact that she wasn’t raised with the best of everything. Liz looks for answers as she tries to understand how a mother who claims to work so hard and love her does not even love herself. Liz does find love with Mack Dollar who sticks by her side through the midst of all that she has done wrong. Such a decision may have cost him his friendship with his best friend Shun, who has a hard time understanding how love can grow with a murderer. Momma tries to calm Shun down after the news that Mack Dollar and Liz may marry.
In the meantime, Jody and Mr. Bleed come together with a plan for change in the community. Mr. Bleed is the warden who releases Jody from prison only after his commitment to spending the rest of his crime sentence at the True Grace Center. The True Grace center is a homeless shelter for the abused, misplaced and lost souls in the community. Jody agrees to share his testimony with those at the center in order to be freed.
While Jody prepares for his release, Rachel and Joy are at home. Joy is sick and Rachel watches over him ensuring he gets rest. Joy begins dreaming. He has visions of a storm which is to come. The dream is more like a nightmare to Joy so Rachel is alarmed and calls on Momma for help. As they look for shelter they wind up in the True Grace Center where unbeknownst to them, everyone else has also arrived. It appears that all is lost in the storm, but in the midst of it all is Joy, the boy who brought joy. The boy who proved all is well when you have family who loves you. Joy showed us that forgiveness is for everyone and that a change will come but most importantly, that love is the greatest gift of all.
