Mona Lisa's Gelato and Cafe serves the healthiest food you can eat when you are away from home. We have a great selection of Gourmet Soups, Gluten-Free, Chicken, Shrimp or Vegetarian Noodle Bowls with your choice of Thai Spicy broth or Mild Organic Red Miso broth, Grilled Sandwiches, Salads, Delicious Gelato Ice Cream plus Daily Specials from Chef Sheridan. Gelato originated in Italy and is the WORLD'S MOST DELICIOUS ICE CREAM. The word Gelato means "frozen" in Italian and is their word for ICE CREAM. Traditional ice cream is composed of 50% air and has an average of 15% butter fat. Gelato has only 25% air and an average of 7% butterfat. This results in a much more dense and creamy product that has very little heaviness in the finish and leaves virtually no residue on the back of the palate. Taste buds are not having to work through so much fat to get to the flavors! Regular ice cream is served at zero degrees Fahrenheit where gelato is served at around 10 degrees. This also contributes to the intense flavor and the texture is much creamier. Gelato typically has one third less calories than ice cream with an average of 65 calories per ounce.
