Hidden in plain sight, this is a wild life refuge in the middle of the town. There are two small ponds and a ~4km trail around them. Pathways are mowed and wide enough. At the begining of the trail you will find a Monarch station, we saw many of these butterflies while walking the trail. Kids enjoyed wide selection of wildflowers and other plants. This park is next to a small, but very active airport, so you can expect private plains landing over your head, making some noise. It was not too disturbing though. Parking area is small, but this is not a very active trail, so it will likely be just you and few folks fishing in the ponds.
This is a newly manicured park some grass cut and much of the underbrush removed with a nice, mostly dirt trail that wanders through woods, open fields, and alongside two small lakes. It is nestled behind the Gaithersburg airfield. We were pleased to see two small planes come in for a landing just above the tree tops while we were there. At the time of our hike, the trail was a bit muddy, but the roundtrip was relatively easy and the views were nice.
Cute local park with long walking or jogging trail through woods and fields and past several little ponds. Plenty of parking, but no restrooms. Trails not paved so would be difficult for a traditional stroller, but would be fine with a jogging stroller or possibly a wheelchair. Tons of blackberries and wine berries in July. We picked half a gallon of berries, and there are lots more!
Nice to hike at. Saw cute butterflies and some sort of long legged bird. Also one lazy non-poisonous snake. No facilities tho.
Please be very careful of ticks, they're an epidemic in the park from now until the first frost. Always check yourself and your dogs thoroughly and throw your clothes into the dryer! Besides this, it is our little slice of paradise. Before the pandemic it was virtually always empty. Not the case now, naturally haha. Be safe!
This is a nice park for a walk or biking. It is just off of the end of the runway at Montgomery Air Park. There were beautiful wild flowers today. The walk is in sun and shade. There are a couple of ponds that you can fish in. There is no play ground or picnic benches.
Lovely private park with a nice trail leading to 2 ponds
Excellent place to explore nature with the family and dogs. We love the trails, fields, and creek.
