The MSO welcomes skilled musicians of all ages to play with us. Rehearsals are Monday evenings at Montgomery Blair High School in Silver Spring.
The Montgomery College and the Montgomery County Public School Department of Adult Education organized the Montgomery Symphony Orchestra to promote cultural development in the county by giving its citizens good music without cost. When the Adult Education Department was closed, the MSO incorporated as an independent 501(c)(3) organization.
The MSO puts on three concerts per year: Fall, Winter, and Spring. Additional concerts are also given on special occasions.
In addition to our concerts for the general public, the MSO has performed for senior citizen groups, at charitable fundraisers, and as orchestral accompaniment to the winners of the Maryland State Music Teachers Association Piano Concerto Competition.
A. Scott Wood has been the music director of the MSO since 2002. He is also executive director and conductor of the Amadeus Concerts and conductor of the Washington Conservatory Orchestra and the National Cathedral School and St. Albans School Orchestra.
