Awsome place. Stayed there once and the cabins are old but it's the lake that glmakes it 5 stars. Such nice people that work thereRooms: 4/5
Moore Springs is an excellent family resort. We have vacationed there for 18 consecutive years and the place is absolutely amazing. The water Howard Lake is always crystal clear and there isn't too much boat traffic so it's great for water sports. The large sandy beach is great for the younger ones or to soak up the sun. It is an all around blast and we will return for years to come.
We have loved spending our family vacation with Judy Kay and Stu at Moore Springs Resort each year we have visited! With two young children, their resort couldn’t be better for swimming, building sandcastles, playing on the playground, and enjoying ice cream treats in the lodge. The cabins are exactly what we need for a great family vacation on a beautiful lake. The cabins are clean and have a beautiful view of the lake. The playground, floats, and beach toys are great! The new Maui Mat was a favorite for the kids! Topped of by a nice lodge with nightly treats and games. Easy to say, we will return and highly recommend this resort to others looking for a quiet getaway and great family time!
I can't say enough good things about Moore Springs resort in Akeley MN. My family, siblings and their children on both sides - has been coming to this resort for 20 years, as of this summer. This is a place where I come to recharge every summer. The lake is quiet, clean and beautiful. My children "grew up" here and I always felt they were safe, protected and treasured. The owners have a clear vision for the resort and have stayed true to that vision throughout the last two decades that I have been visiting. It is family-oriented, quiet, and peaceful. Looking forward to extending my summer visit as a part of my retirement plan, someday!
My wife and I wanted a long weekend so on a whim we booked a RV spot at Moore Springs. Wow what a fantastic place! Beautiful clear lake! Nice clean and quite campground! The owners are the best people! We will be back again next year.
4.8 stars, 7 years going there, I've tented, rented a cabin, and come with an RV. this is a quiet, family friendly resort. The lake is quiet, crystal clear and cool, great for fishing, swimming, kayaking, tubing and skiing. If you are looking for a fancy resort with golf and a pool, don't look here, but if you are looking to spend time on the beach, playing with your kids on the rope swing, or evenings on the fishing dock, this is the spot. Monday lodge breakfast you get to meet people who have been going there for decades. My sister and her family celebrated their 20th year last week. this resort has been around for 100 years, creating some unique angles in the cabins, but thats part of its charm.
If you are considering this resort I would like to warn you of potential issues. On arrival, my wife walked to the office to check in as directed by the sign posted at the entry to the resort. We were told that the site was lakeside and would accept a 25' bumper pull camper, which it did provided that you have a vehicle with 4 wheel drive low in order to get it up the hill to the un-level site. As we were putting the camper on our site and trying to get a view to the lake, the owner came up to the site and started yelling at me because the camper was at an angle on our site. He said it must go straight back with no view of the lake. That is why we come to Minnesota, the lakes! After we straightened the camper and started getting set up, my father-in-law went down to the restroom to see signs posted stating that the showers are limited to 2 minutes and cost 50 cents. My wife also mentioned all of the signs of what to do and how to do it when visiting the office/lodge. We went to the boat launch and were meet by the owner once again and he started Screaming at us on how to back in our boat! I have been backing vehicles for 40+ years. At this point remaining calm we stopped and got out to talk to the owner and hopefully resolve issues. I tried to explain that we moved the camper at his request and matched the angle of the camper on the neighboring lot and didn't understand why the screaming. I could not get a word in as he continued to rant on. We simple said if you don't want us here, refund our deposit. They did, and we couldn't get out of there fast enough. I have never been treated with that level of rudeness and would advise avoiding this resort at all costs.
Great family oriented resort. The cabins were clean and the kitchen was stocked with basic items. This is a peaceful retreat for those escaping the hustle of the city.
Best resort in Minnesota. Good prices. Everything you need on site. Quiet, relaxing, and many activities to stay busy. The owners are great folks. Love them!
