Description

Morton High School is a four-year comprehensive secondary school, currently serving approximately 900 students. Our faculty includes nearly 70 teachers, the majority of whom have attained master's degrees. Morton High's extensive curriculum offers over 125 courses, including college preparatory, general education, as well as technology preparation courses. Additionally, MHS offers a full inclusion program for those students with special needs.

During the 2004-2005 school year, Morton High School celebrated, "A Century of Excellence!," one hundred years of service to the students and community of Morton. The current building was constructed in three phases between 1954 and 1976. Additionally, a 450-seat, state-of-the-art performing Arts Theater was added in 1997. MHS is a well-designed, tri-level facility which houses one of the most complete industrial technology components in central Illinois, including a TV studio and multiple computer labs.

The Potters, the school's nickname, symbolizes the fact that Morton housed the largest kiln pottery industry west of New York City until the late 1960s. The various Morton Potters extracurricular teams have represented MHS well, as students participate in art, business, industrial technology, and speech activities. The school's athletic, music, and extra-curricular academic teams have achieved outstanding records, augmenting Morton High's reputation for strong academic, music, and athletic programs.

My poor little baby Gaylord was bullied during his week at Morton High School. A group of boys across the lunch room force feeded him spicy chicken sandwiches until Mr. Mahana beat them senseless. Grasias Sinor Saving humanity, Local mama Jeanette
Having moved here from Oklahoma it has to be said this school is so much better than the last two schools my daughter attended. The teachers are great at giving the extra help needed due to the fact that Oklahoma schools are so far behind this school. The kids at the school were very welcoming to my daughter and made her feel very welcome.
I have been picked on for all four years and nothing was done. Even if they had a no bullying policy I still was. But the moment I said something that was considered "mean" or "rude" the teachers would give me a talking to. The fine arts department is amazing but the district helps little to none. The teachers are wonderful. Beware though, you either have to have money or looks in this town to be "popular" or noticed. Personality does not cut it here. Besides that the school is great the custodians are amazing and so are the kitchen ladies.
I think Morton is an amazing school other than the fact that there is a "No Phone" policy, which is completely stupid. But i was born and grew up in Morton and a lot of my family's from there but it's kinda grown on me to hate. People talk, that's all i have to say. Y'all need to learn to keep your big ole' mouths shut. But my grandpa Reiser being a past Morton High School basketball coach along with my grandma Reiser being a high school English teacher there, i support Morton full out and still hangout with people from Morton. Also, in general dress code is stupid along with the phone policy thing. That's really saying that you care about kids clothes and devices more than their learning experiences. Simply just ask them to put it away till free time, not take it away. Point made.
