We stayed for a few days when cycling the park. Service was amazing with a refund for 1 day due to my crash. Thanks so much staff for the fabulous experience.Rooms: 5/5
Location is great! The unit? Not so much. Each unit is a condo in a strata. So E ach unit may be appointed differently? Our 2 bedroom unit 402 was adequate. There was no salt, nor peppercorns, tissues or facecloths. There was only one oven mitt, which was burnt. Round-bottomed frying pans. There was a tear in the sheet. Range’s front burner didn’t work properly. Owner’s gear for their toddler in the closet. Overall feeling of a least-cost approach. Will look for a different unit if we go again.
I arrived at 6pm on Friday night, there was noone at the reception desk so I called the number and 30min later reception showed up. Reception also forgot to tell me that you need to sign up for the hottub so after a day of snowboarding we were not able to use the hottub which was frustrating. It is not a typical hotel, there is no soap, shampoo etc provided so thankfully I brought my own. The room was great although the fireplace did not work. There was also a loud fan that would automatically turn on in the middle of the night in the bathroom which would wake us up and make it difficult to sleep. My biggest issue was the lack of communication regarding amenities and service in general. We love being on the mountain, but for the cost to stay at Mount Washington it is not worth it, one and done kind of experience. Splurge for a bigger mountain with a true hotel that has all the amenities and quick responsive service.
Staff was unprepared for the power outage no flashlights, no helpful numbers to call, no procedure or helpful information. The staff was also unable to remain calm and ended up swearing at multiple people in our party because they were “so f**king fed up”. Additionally, one of the couple car from our party got buried by the snow plough, and the staff was told them there was nothing they could do to help. This led to the staff screaming at this couple because they were unable to have all their stuff out of the room by 10am checkout time because they were still shovelling snow to access their car. The week prior, similar stories of rude and unhelpful staff at the Bear Lodge from friends should’ve urged us to re-think accommodation. Hopefully this review can save some people from similar horrible experiences.
Stayed here after the new year’s weekend and found the two bedroom unit comfortable and clean. The actual foorplan was a little awkward and somewhat dated, but adequate. It was nice to have a decent wifi connection and a variety of tv channels available during the snowy evenings. The kitchen was supplied with the basics and some; stove and working oven, toaster and coffee machine plus all the kitchen utensils and cutlery needed for 6 or more. The hotub wasn’t working due to water restriction made by Mt.Washington Ski resort administration, which made it beyond the control of anyone of the Bear Lodge front desk. This raises a very serious concern and makes the appeal to return most unlikely. As most of the units are indipendantly owned, any issues that arise make it difficult to find who is responsible. If no issues arrise then it can be a trouble-free and fun time with family and friends. My recomendation to all who chose Bear Lodge is make sure you carry a full list of phone numbers and contacts, because administration between roadways, outside parking, lobby, individual unit owners and multiple levels of Mt.Washington ski resort departments are alienated from each other. When you ask who os responsible for … the answer is ‍ “not me”. They really need to work closer together and colaberate resources in order to make patrons and tourists feel safe and secure to their wants and needs. The way it is now, it’s impossible to find the ones responsible for any given problem, and help for said problem.
Very convinient location right on a downhill slop. The apartments are different sizes with kitchens and full washrooms. Just walk down with the skis and enjoy downhill skiing, or take a car down to Raven Lodge and enjoy nordic or backcountry skiing, or snowshosing, or tobogganing. Also, there is a hottab/ jacuzzi in a building right near the registration desk with the washrooms for public. Just book your time and use it for 20 minuts period. Mt. Washington is a great resort to enjoy the winter sports.
The staff here at bear lodge are very rude. Our place was decent but sleeps 9 and there were 4 towels, no cutting board, no cheese grater…. And it had a moldy smell. We paid 2k for 5 nights and we aren’t even allowed to use the hot tub when is was dead during the day as the rules are one time a day. So we used it once and now we’ve removed gor the evening. Well I’m disgusted and won’t be back.
Although the room was clean and comfortable, the one star is for poor service. Surprisingly they didn’t clean the drive way of garage after a night of snow. There is half meter snow at the gate. When I asked the front desk, she was rude and said she doesn’t have an ETA.Rooms: 4/5
We stayed at Bear Lodge for a fall wedding held in the Raven Lodge. Bear Lodge itself was delightful, clean and the staff were really friendly. We ended up staying in are bedroom suite, which could be divided into an A and B section. Tons of space with breathtaking views. The furniture was in good shape and the whole place had a well cared for vibe. I would definitely come back. On the side note, my wife loved the big soaker tubs in the room.
Bear lodge is conveniently located on Mount Washington. Units are needing updating and better cleaning/restocking in between rentals we rented 3-bedroom unit, only had four large plates in the cupboards although room sleeps 8 ppl, dishwasher had broken glass and hair in it, two broken hair dryers that didn't work, one toilets hums for a bit after you flush it, the kitchen chairs were missing spindles, one bedroom TV had half the buttons burnt off or melted, and dirt and trash left under the beds from previous rental. That being said caretaker was kind and promptly arrived to fix the dishwasher when it broke mid vacation inner piece fell off and burnt on the heating element. We've stayed here for multiple years, love the convenience but pay 5 star prices for a poorly cleaned 3 star accommodation that keeps getting worse. We hope it gets better as we love the location but seem to be underwhelmed more with each visit.
