This review is for the restaurant. This place truly is a wonderful restaurant to enjoy delicious food, get great service, hear the river rushing by, smell the pine trees in the air and have an enjoyable evening away from the craziness of near by N. Tahoe. All of the dishes and drinks I've eaten here 2x were delicious. Lamb, bison ribs, pork chops, salads, chicken nuggets w/fries kids and drinks were delicious. If you can get outdoor seat, it's amazing, but indoor by the river is very very nice as well. Again this place is worth the $$$, and a visit next time you are up in this area.
Ambience: A restaurant with a great view, with takes right by the Truckee river. You can enjoy the calming sound of the flowing river as you enjoy your meal. Seating: They have proper indoor seating and lots of outdoor seating as well with the heaters. Despite that don't forget to carry a jacket as it tends to be cooler by the river. They have high top tables, regular and seating by the outdoor bar. There are just a few tables along the river if you want the views. Food: The food is fresh and a well curated menu. The menu is different on Mon & Tue as compared to the rest of the days. The portion size for all of their dishes is very huge. Appetizers and shared plates can serve more than 2 depending on what you order. Everyday they have a chefs special, don't forget to ask them about it. Parking: They have plenty of parking onsite. Lodging: They also have Lodging options with rooms attached to the restaurant. Food & drinks: Huge portion sizes Noteworthy details: Tables right by the Truckee river
Visited as part of a business trip. We had the Brussels with shishito peppers which was delicious and fairly large portion. For entrees, had a special sirloin, potatoes, mushrooms and the elk chops. Overall, entrees were good but steak which was ordered medium rare was close to medium well/well done and the dish was very under-salted - which is saying something as I never ever add salt to my food. I would definitely eat here again, but maybe would try other entrees instead.
This review is for the restaurant. It is a very nice setting on the Truckee river. It can get very busy when rafting is in session but this summer it is not. Live music in the patio with a nice bar. We did dinner inside and had a nice window seat. The Chile verse soup was fantastic as was the wedge salad and beet salad. I had the shrimp and cod dish which was nice and light…..quite good. My wife had the bison short ribs. They were very good but she only got a few pieces of meat mixed in with the Brussels sprouts. Thankfully we were both full, but for $44, e expected more. In the end, we enjoyed our dinner. It was not cheap. We spent $250 for two of us including only three drinks. Our waitress was very good.
Rooms are fairly small and have "rustic" furnishings. But bed was comfortable after long days of exploring the Lake Tahoe area. View from the room was outstanding. Restaurant has great food, but go before sunset in Summer as mosquitoes can be a menace. And they find their way to inside dining areas too. Nearby activities: River Ranch is located roughly 3 miles from Tahoe City, on a major road. Truckee is just a few miles in the opposite direction. Easy access to the north and western shores of Lake Tahoe.
Went for a late dinner, was tone of the few places that accepts a reservation after 7:45pm. The food was good. Our server, Simone, was awesome and friendly. We ate indoors and the mosquitoes were slaughtering us with the proximity to the river and this time of year; pro tip: wear long pants and sleeves. Definitely recommend this Tahoe staple for dinner.
Third time I've been here through out the years. First time in the 'summer' and it's as good as ever. The patio is awesome right there on the little river and the staff are kind. Will definitely be back again, this is a must for food and views in the valley. Erick from Kentucky
This review is for the restaurant. We had a wonderful dinner. Highly recommend as a creekside restaurant with an intimate feel, great service and awesome food.Service: 5/5
Great casual hangout along the Truckee. We had 2 pulled pork sammies and they were spicy delicious. The French fries and coleslaw were also tasty. Kind of pricy but you are paying for the location. 2 sammies, 1 beer and ice tea. $51.00.Service: 4/5
Came here with some friends to try out the “famous” nachos. How they became famous is a mystery to me. Nachos were burnt blacker than a night sky in Alaska during the Winter solstice. They were drenched in a soup of sour cream covered in bone dry chicken that we paid $7 extra for. We came here with a $100 gift card that we won in a Tahoe North photo competition and still feel we overpaid. If somebody gave me a gift card for $1000, I would burn it just like they burnt my nachos. The reason why I did not give a 1 star review is because I was not physically harmed, threatened, or robbed by any staff during my meal.
