Organized 1991 by a group of industrious volunteers to ensure that future generations would remember and be aware of the incredible history of the phosphate industry and the impact it had on the area around Mt. Pleasant.
The Museum has exhibits on two stories in the Old First National Bank Building which was donated to the Museum in 1996. We are fully handicap accessible.
To preserve the history of the phosphate industry and its impact on the area around Mt. Pleasant for future generations, as well as preserving for future generations of the history of the community and county.
The Museum regularly offers many books on local history, a yearly calendar, Christmas ornaments featuring local landmarks, and other items. A listing of them will be made available on the page with ordering instructions from time to time.
