OUR NAME
The name “Keumgang” comes from several areas. It translates to “diamond” in Korean and is symbolic for having an impenetrable defense and a strong foundation. The 2nd Degree black belt form is also called Keumgang and focuses on using balance to execute movements properly. While doing this form, black belts also travel in directions that create the symbol “山” which is the symbol in our logo and is the Chinese character for “mountain.” Lastly, the name pays homage to Keumgang Yuksa, a warrior from the Old Chosun Dynasty who is credited with developing one of the earliest versions of Taekwondo.
Keumgang Martial Arts Academy strives to provide top-quality martial arts instruction that emphasizes fitness, discipline, self-defense, and self-empowerment. We organize our classes to maximize education in not only the movements of taekwondo, but also in the history, philosophy, and real-world application.
