Description

Come take a fantastic journey back through time and tour from the long range cannon high above...to the armoury stores deep within.

Built in 1846, at the height of the Oregon Crisis, as part of the defensive fortifications of Kingston, the Murney Tower stands as one of the finest Martello towers in North America. The architecture and construction of the tower are unique, and the masonry work is unsurpassed on this continent. This redoubt was never attacked, but served as military housing for over forty years after its completion. Since 1925 it has operated as a museum.

Open Daily 10:00 am to 5:00 pm - May-Long-Weekend to Labour Day

A small admission fee is charged to support the Murney Tower Museum. Included in the admission price is a free guided tour for small groups who are interested. Otherwise, Interpreters are more than happy to answer any and all questions our visitors have.

Great little piece of nicely preserved Canadian historical architecture. It’s technically free to get in but they take donations suggested is $5. NOTE: there are 3 levels and the stairs to get up or down are very narrow.Visited onWeekendWait timeNo waitReservation recommendedNo
Great little museum with a lot of history and fun facts. Definitely take up on the free tour guide option. Jimmy who was out your guide did an amazing job and made this a very informative and enjoyable experience. The surrounding area is very beautiful as well!
A true treasure for Kingston and Canada! This well preserved Martello Tower tells the history of defending Canada in the mid-1800s. With three levels to explore and many displays with full descriptions, enjoy an hour or more at this must-see attraction!Visited onWeekdayWait timeNo wait
