I visited Murphy's Funeral Home in Arlington on 9/18/23 and met with Assistant Sales Manager, Antonia Cummings, to arrange for an advance directive regarding my end-of-life wishes. Within minutes of meeting Antonia I felt at ease and confident that I was working with the right person. Warm, cordial, reassuring, and efficient, she is exactly right for me in the present and for my closest relative when my passing occurs. She showed sensitivity and respect for my purpose and she has maintained her availability. I know I can reach her at any time and confide any concerns to her. I am sharing my experience because I want others to have my peace of mind and the comfort of knowing they and their loved ones are in good hands.
Daniel and Vanessa Kearney were great. The Arlington team does an exceptional job at assisting families with end of life plans. I highly recommend you visit the and the Dignity properties.
Juliana was professional and knowledgeable. She clearly explained every step in the process, offered helpful suggestions and went the extra mile to assure that my mom’s wishes were fulfilled. The result was a beautiful and deeply moving send-off that I will remember forever.
Murphy Funeral Home was there for us through this process and answered any questions we had. They made this difficult time a lot easier. We will always be grateful.
Antonio Cummings was sensitive and thorough explaining everything to me since this was the first time I was making arrangements like this. Professional and kind staff. Personal but with enough structure so that you can trust them.
I visited this place today to consider them for a funeral and with the way we were treated today by the short lady with the brunette short hair, I knew this place was not for me. We were told to go to the back door since there was construction going on at the front door. At the back door, this woman approached us from outside screaming “helloooooo?!?” and asked why we were there. I told her we just wanted to inquire about pricing and availability. She said she can give us a brochure. I asked if we weren’t able to enter the building and sit down with someone. She said no. We explained we had been in communication with a service director there for the past two days and also wanted to just see the place in person. I understand we didn’t make an appointment but I wasn’t aware one was required as other places we’ve visited happily accepted us as walk-ins. This lady was shaking her head, rolling her eyes for no apparent reason but obviously we were an inconvenience to her. Especially during grieving times like this, to be treated this way was extremely frustrating and disappointing. We will gladly take our business elsewhere.
Planning the funeral of one’s beloved mother is never easy. Our family is so grateful to Juliana she was responsive, compassionate and understanding throughout the entire process. Every single detail was handled with care. I also want to mention how amazing Antonia was from our initial meeting to the conclusion of the funeral support. In addition, my sincere thanks to Abu and Keisha on their sensitivity, patience and the dignity shown to my mother and our family when they removed my mother. The passing of a loved one is difficult, but the staff at Murphy's are simply amazing at helping you navigate the experience. I recommend them highly.
Overall the arrangements were handled very professionally. However, the person they assigned to officiate my father’s service was not good at all. She did not contact me until a few days prior to the scheduled service, so there was little time to figure out music or digital photos. She also declined to use my suggestions for what she might say at the service and said she’d put together her own talk based on questions she asked me. The questions were things like, what was his favorite vegetable? They were a bit ridiculous, but I trusted her to put together something nice. It was not good at all. She read back most of these questions and answers like a laundry list. “His favorite vegetable was corn.” It was so ridiculous it was comical, in a Larry David kind of way. Not at all the service I wanted for my father. Also, the viewing before the service was catered, but food was in a separate room and I’m not sure people even knew it was there. But honestly, that was a minor issue compared to the debacle of my father’s service. I wonder if the people at Murphy’s vet their officiants. Our lesson was to definitely try to use someone you know to lead a service for your loved one.
"Thank you" doesn't seem enough to express how much we truly appreciate Rachel and the Murphy Funeral Home Team for all that they've done for our family. Rachel was professional and kind. Her assistance with the keepsake, her ability to combat and correct the issues that arose and her help to fulfill our wants and needs exceeded expectations. She and the Murphy Funeral Home Team helped us celebrate our loved one's life in the best way possible.
I unexpectedly lost my son on October 7, 2020 and reached out to Murphy Funeral Home for a Memorial Service for him and Funeral Director Samantha Washington handled my son's service. Dealing with the pain of losing my son, Samantha helped me through every step of the process... she was AMAZING. She answered every question... held my hand during the viewing the hardest thing I’ve EVR had to do... wipes my tears... and she still helped me today order keepsakes for my sons siblings! Not that any funeral service is nice... but Samantha and Murphy Funeral Home made it a lot easier to get through the most difficult time of our lives. Thank you!
