Irish pub decor but American bar food menu. The food is good. I had spinach and artichoke dip with chips, Garlic parmesan wings think wing dings if that term means anything to you but fried perfectly and flavorful and Shrimp scampi Flatbread was also tasty. Indoor seating dining room, semi separate bar area and outdoor seating as well. A restaurant with a parking lot in downtown Stamford is a rare find!
We spent the weekend in CT for a small getaway and we are so happy we found this place! The bar was pretty full when we got there, but they have a section on the complete other side with booth and table seating. It was nice, because it was quiet and my boyfriend and I could talk while we drank. The service was also amazing. We had a server named Tim and he was extremely attentive but also quite personable. Overall, this was a great experience. Drinks were well made, food was delicious and fairly priced and the service was both friendly and efficient. Will absolutely be returning when we take our next trip to CT.
We loved it here. Burger was spot on. Got there around 330 on Sunday and sat in the bar area. They were short staffed so the bartender doubled as a waiter and absolutely crushed it. We’re pretty low-maintenance patrons but he was attentive enough where if we needed anything he would have handled it. Good on-tap selection, separate area if you’d rather sit in a dining area, and good outside patio area with ping pong and the ring game! Definitely coming back
Nice local bar. Only real dart board in Stamford. Guinness is served cold but a little expensive. The burgers are so so good and the fries came out perfect. Beer prices are a little high but worth it for the nice staff and good atmosphere. Nice amount of TVs in the bar area. Good music.
The place is chill when the younger bar tenders are there I noticed the older guy is clearly racist. He treats certain people differently. I don't think he should be doing this kind of job if he's not ok with other races
It's our go to place, lively ambiance, good food and drinks, very friendly staff! Best chicken wings ever garlic parmesan wings highly recommended! Decent variety of local beers on tap! Vegetarian options: Fries, onion rings, flatbreads for vegetarian options
AVOID HAVING THE GUINNESS BEEF STEW. It was the WORST slop I have ever eaten take it from a cook here. Was a small bowl of broth with no veggies or meat @ $14.00 they open up a can of cheap soup in my opinion. Stew should be thick with tons of meat & veggies. Oh by way DO NOT order Fish n Chips @ $18.00 both my husband & daughter had which was Frozen box fish fried up. Can't post unless I give it a star it was a horrible meal & experience at $100.00 add 3 drinks &no food for a child
Avoid the fried wings at all costs. The grilled jumbo wings are good if you like charcoal grilled wings. The fried wings though had no meat because each wing consisted of just gelatinous fat. I was actually amazed by how much fat was on thr wings with little to no chicken. Some of them had no meat at all, just fat. I couldn't finish one wing and I'm far from a picky eater.
I know I am super late writing this review but, after reading a customer's comment on how she was denied service due to a handicapped family member, I WAS NOT AT ALL SURPRISED and couldn't resist sharing my unfortunate experience at Murphy's. I went to this establishment on Cinco De Mayo, I'd say around 11:15pm I work in emergency services so I got out late to grab a quick drink with a co-worker. Upon asking for a Long Island Iced Tea I was yelled at by the owner for making such a request and was told "how dare I make such a request and during last call" btw I didn't know it was last call, as I have never been here before. He then instructed me to get out of his bar and added that, 'it was his bar and that he could serve or not serve whomever he wants.' He then proceeded to tell me to "go down the street for a drink." REALLY??? This is how you treat your customers and potential customer's? I was so shocked that a bar owner The owner of a rundown gross one at that would deny service to a customer for simply ordering a Long Island Iced Tea. Oh well, I guess there truly is a first time for everything. Needless to say, this was my first and last time at this place. I am shocked to see the place has a greater than 4 star rating. but then again, it is either staff writing the reviews for a review boost or, 21 year-old customers who wrote the reviews in exchange for free drinks.
We sat on the covered patio and the music was good and not too loud; we were able to have a conversation without yelling or talking really loud. The bartender waited on us timely even though he was the only one there. The burgers were amazing as was my onion rings and beer. This was my last night in Stamford after moving there over 3 years ago and I wish I'd found Murphys and tried it sooner. It's not on the main street of Bedford so to me it's a hidden gem. Definitely will visit again if I'm back for business.
