Murray State has a great number of facilities to meet the sporting and fitness needs of faculty, staff and students. The Susan A. Bauernfeind Recreation and Wellness Center is a 73,000 square foot facility paid for by student fees. It includes threefull size basketball courts with hardwood floors; aerobics studio with hardwood floor, mirrors, ballet bar, and sound system; free weights, selectorized machines and cardio workout equipment featuring treadmills, elliptical trainers, cross trainers, bikes, steppers, and rowing machines; swimming pool featuring lap pool, leisure pool area, whirlpool, vortex, and water bench; two racquetball courts; café and lounge with internet access' men's and women's locker rooms; 1/11-mile walking/jogging track; multipurpose Room available for meetings, classes, and workout sessions.
In the Carr Health Building/Racer Arena, there are four racquetball courts, three multipurpose gymnasiums, a gymnastics room, an indoor jogging track, a swimming pool, and dressing rooms. Outdoor facilities include four basketball courts, 16 lighted tennis courts, two sand volleyball courts, and numerous athletic fields for team sports.
The mission of Campus Recreation and Wellness is to enhance Wellness to Murray State students, faculty, staff, alumni, and their families by providing programming that promote healthy behaviors, active lifestyles and social development through these recreational and wellness opportunities.
