First off.... I'm still needing to check with my insurance company but I thought that annual wellness visits were free. I came here on a recommendation from my primary care physician for an annual checkup. Why did I have to pay a $90 copay? I didn't have any procedures other than a breast and pelvic exam. My copay isn't $90.00..it's $40. What's up? I'll definitely be checking with my insurance company.
Tried to book an appointment with them. Had to cancel because no one communicated location. There was no location on my MyChart Confirmation or their message to me about my appointment. The lady I was talking to while scheduling it said something about their Summerville location. I just thought, Summerville. Well, when I went to my appointment, each location said you're not here. Finally, my 2nd location said it's in Charleston. So, I called and let them know what happened. The lady I was on the phone with, Melissa, kept running over how people sometimes assume and this happens. I get that, but I listened to it for 20 minutes. Finally, my fiancé let her know to do her job because he saw I was getting upset. She got mad and said take it off speaker. When I did, I let her know and she just continued her rant. I let her know for the 10th time what happened and she said it was probably a problem with the system. She then continued the same rant, and I finally said, do your job. She got mad that I said that, and I told her to stop her rant. Finally, I ended the call because I was tired of it. I will be going elsewhere. I'm not dealing with the front desk ladies being rude, and belittling patients for a simple mistake.
Even though Dr. Cowherd could not deliver my baby, she tried to be be there for his delivery he just wouldnt come out and was very attentive to my needs and actually listened to what I wanted. I was actually seeing another doctor during the first trimester of my pregnancy that doctor was also sweet and caring but Dr. Cowherd just had a different approach that I liked more. I was a bit more extra this pregnancy but Dr. Cowherd and her nurses did not treat me any differently even though she was super busy. She even continued care and fulfilled my request to do a procedure sooner rather than later so that I may get back to work at a reasonable time! Keep up the good work ladies!
I will not be returning to this clinic. Besides the fact that the providers are subpar at best, the billing department is a disaster. Just like the other reviews - check your detailed bill and know your coverage details! This clinic is overcharging people due to incorrect coding and double charging copays. I’ve been dealing with this for every bill from this clinic for the last 3 years and I’m done jumping through hoops to fix mistakes on their end. MUSC has done very little to fix the issue and insists that I reach out to my insurance to deal with something that was coded incorrectly on their end.
The desk staff was fantastic. The doctors aren’t so great. I was pregnant with twins 2021-2022 . My pregnancy was cut short because the doctors 9 that MUSC kept switching me to did not let me know I had preeclampsia . Ultrasound tech was trash as well she did know how to talk to an individual. My 6 week doctor Dr. Gill Goodier was great. I recommend anyone to see Dr. Gill Goodier for their 6 weeks postpartum check up.
Angela Richardson Dempsey-Fanning was the absolute worse doctor I have ever met in my life. Without going into detail about my child. But she is 16 and I was told she is considered an adult at MUSC and I was not allowed to make any medical decisions for her. She has to be the one to make those decisions. When she came in to speak with us she would disregard my question and cut me off mid sentence and begin speaking to my daughter about something completely different. She also told my daughter she was not worried about the reason for the visit which by the way is life threatening. Found out by another doctor at different office that our problem was that we were not vaccinated and needed to be tested for COVID-19 and then get vaccinated then we would worry about the other thing. And the issue has nothing to due with any thing related to COVID symptoms. And overall very rude. Will never go back to that office
I went for a pap smear, was refused and pushed several pharmaceutical options as well as an IUD. They're a great option but completely unrelated to the reason I went in for a visit. I expressed that I was concerned with not getting a pap and he said to think about the IUD and come back when I was ready. Then I could get the pap I'd come for. I was billed with 2 different codes including getting advisement on the IUD I didn't ask for, want, or consider getting. I am working to appeal the claims now. The Dr didn't listen and was negligent.
The billing department for this office is a scam. Went for a UTI check and was double charged for each lab costing $250 with insurance that covers it for a simple UTI visit in which I didn’t even see a provider. They charged for my results which were sent by a random provider that I did not see. Have been dealing with billing for over a month. Will be reporting this office as a scam and would not recommend. Reviews are accurate.
I went to this office twice in the last 3 years. I went both times for an annual check up. First time I got a bill for 300+ dollars. This time I got a bill for 224. I am just going for my regular preventative care. I have PEBA state health insurance. This should be covered other than my co-pay which I paid 60$ already. After trying to figure this out for 3 weeks, my insurance company said they charged me for an Annual Visit and then a Wellness visit in one day so it looked liked I went to the gyno office twice in one day. I only made one appointment. My insurance will only cover 1 visit per day. I talked to another nurse I work with and she went to Jessica Day as well and said her bill was 300!! She said it was just a normal check up as well and she thought it was odd her bill was that much. I feel like this billing office is coding things wrong and this needs to be fixed. Unfortunately, I had to report this office as fraud to the office of inspector General.
I was diagnosed here with a severe infection and was put on multiple antibiotics. Ive since developed what I think are more infections which they said could happen from taking lots of antibiotics... but i dont know for sure and no one has seen me to confirm. I have sent messages on MyChart about my symptoms and if I need to come in to be seen, and I can see when they've read my messages so I know they've seen them all and still no one responds. I call leaving messages for staff saying no one is messaging me back and have never gotten a return phone call. Ive called to schedule a visit and no one can get me in. All that happens is I get a text from my pharmacy saying I have a prescription ready without them ever having seen me to confirm whats going on or even talking to me about it. I was seen in office once and was prescribed 3 meds and I've been prescribed another 4 without anyone having talked to me directly. Thats 7 meds and I don't even know what all these are for or if I actually need them all. I had symptoms of a UTI which was listed as a rare but serious side effect of my medication and again no one responded to my concerns. I had to call the emergency after hours Dr just to talk to someone about it and she prescribed me more meds again without having confirmed anything. I messaged them that all these meds are causing severe stomach upset for my breastfed baby and again the message was read but never responded to. They don't even care. This has all been truly the worst experience I've ever had at any doctors office and I rather pay out of network to see someone else. The "care" they provide is absolutely appalling and I don't trust them with my health at all. This has been a nightmare.
