STAY AWAY!! If I could give zero stars, I would. We booked through National for a large SUV. When calling the day before to confirm, we were informed that they had no vehicle to "meet our needs." They made no attempts to provide a solution, or even provide assistance, such as looking at other nearby locations. They were aware that the vehicle we rented would be hard to locate and the representative flatly said "Sorry." The frustrating part of this issue is that prior to renting the vehicle, I contacted the location and asked if they had a vehicle that would suit our needs. The representative stated that they had 2 that would suit our needs and, in detail, described the seating arrangements of both. After learning that they had canceled our reservation without even telling us, they claimed they did not have my phone number or email, despite that I received email confirmation, I asked to speak to management. I was told they would contact me that day, but it's been 3 days and I have not heard from anyone. PLEASE STAY AWAY FROM THIS LOCATION!!! I have contacted National corporate and have filed a formal complaint against this location, as I was advised by the corporate customer service representative.
I have executive status and showed up to pick up my rental. I was charged $400 deposit on a corporate rental and the Camry smelled so bad that I could not take it. I asked for a different vehicle and I was told they didnt have one. I asked for an upgrade and they told me I didnt have enough rentals even with executive status. I have rented countless vehicles form here in the past with no issues. New staff has no clue. Left without a car. Stay away!

I had long term rent with them and they require me to switch out the car for maintenance oil change maintenance It not a problem to switch, the problem was they did not give me a head up notice. Just call one day and told I had to do it right away and no negotiation, in such a rude voice. I had to cancel my plan. How can a company provide customers service in such a rude way?
Scammer alert! I returned my car full on gas and they charged me $3. The gas station was 2 miles from the airport and there were no gas pumps on airport property that I could see, so they had to drive off-airport to run some extra miles that I didn't pay for. I was also told they only had an SUV, but when I went out to the lot, there were 2 cars I had reserved compact. Avoid this scammers!
We reserved a premium SUV 2 months online in advance, received a call from a rep from National Rental Car at the Lynchburg Regional Airport this morning the day off the pick up stating that they don’t have a premium SUV available. She said that she had a 7 passenger SUV due back at 9am that the customer was a regular and we would be able to pick it up once it’s returned. An hour or so later she called back saying that the rental wasn’t being returned and could only put us in a 5 passenger car. This is the 2nd time in a 2 week time frame that we’ve had an issue similar to this with National at this location. The last time this happened we had to drive over an hour to another location to get a vehicle to accommodate what they weren’t able to. Today really put the icing on the cake because we have an event to attend and made the proper arrangements to accommodate traveling, but National failed to uphold their end of the deal!! We were unable to rent another vehicle because of it being last minute. National really should do better!!! Being an inconvenience and not being considerate of their customers is a huge problem!! Calling the morning of is a huge problem!!! Not having available stock of what your website states you have is a huge problem!!! AVOID!!!!! I’m executive and this is the worse location ever. CAR HAD A TERRIBLE SMELL. IT WAS DIRTY. EVN THOUGH TANK WAS NOT FULL WHEN I PICKED IT UP AND MADE THEM MAKE A NOTE, I WAS CHARGED FOR THE FULL TANK. ALSO THEY DIDNT HAVE A CAR FOR ME EVEN THOUGH I HAD A RESERVATION.
Had a very smooth experience with my National car rental. Easy check in and check out process. Pleasant customer service and made it super easy. Appreciated it. The car was in perfect condition and is even making me consider buying the make and model I drove around! Thanks!
As I came to post this review I realized not only am I not the only one, my issue happens regularly. Read all the one and two star reviews. That is all.
Attempted to rent a car on 3 separate occasions with National Car Rental. Every time the car was given away and I received NO phone call. The last time, I was 15 minutes away from the airport when I called. The employee that answered the phone stated "Oh, I forgot to call you. Your car isn't available anymore." The reservation had been made 2 weeks in advance. Corporate give "a sincere apology" and suggested that I "call Alamo, they should be pretty good." Do NOT rent from this car rental service.
Extremely nice people at the counter that helped me quickly and with a smile. With my emerald club membership I was upgraded to a Mustang. I will not hesitate to use them again!
