It wasn't what I expected. It was more of a museum of military health... there was one room that focused on anatomy, but even that room included pics of bullet wounds. And despite the museum being a history of military health, which is fine, there was no mention of Clara Barton, the American Red Cross, or even a dedicated section for corpsmen. It was mostly a collection of what bones looked like after being shot. There were a few really neat items in the exhibit, and the museum is free, so if you're in the area, it may still be worth the visit.
Loved it. Thank you. Was able to reach this area via taking metro then renting electric scooters for approx a 12 minute scooter ride. Loved the exhibit where you can try to guess what it is, then use the handy printed sheets to match what 1, 2, 3, etc. Are. I was hoping there would be more to the exhibit though. Really cool how many of the items were derived from real bodies and dissected and preserved so well. Not many other museums use real life corpses!
It's a smaller building with three different sections. Each section is very detailed and unique. It's also free to visit, and there are nice restrooms and water fountains as well. Very cool place and very informational!Visited onWeekdayWait timeNo waitReservation recommendedNoPrice for adult entryFree
Isn't huge, very well kept, good/thoughtful displays. Definitely a must if you are interested in military medicine. Would also be good for a high school level anatomy class for the bones and brain exhibits.
Incredible anatomical exhibits with great examples of normal specimens as well as pathological specimens, wide range of military injuries spanning many years, and medical equipment. Especially loved the traumatic brain injury exhibit for the month of March. Would definitely recommend a trip!Visited onWeekdayWait timeNo waitReservation recommendedNoPrice for adult entryFree

- Extremely helpful and attentive staff. - More than enough parking on a weekday afternoon. - Not crowded at all. - Bathroom is big and clean. - Mask is optional. - Smaller but still extensive specimen and information for a six year old, very educational. You could even download the app or scan the code for their website for more information. - The brain exhibition is very interactive, my daughter loves it very much. - Also she was intrigued by the President Lincoln and World world 1 and face reconstruction exhibition. - It’s definitely not a Smithsonian museum but five star for how organized, unique it is and how nice the staff is.
Underrated museum! So good! Loved the TBI exhibit and all of the cool medical specimens. I think the museum could stand to have a little more in the way of explanation, but still cool!Visited onWeekendWait timeNo waitReservation recommendedNoPrice for adult entryFree
This is a crazy interesting place. Go for the bullet that killed Lincoln; stay for the stomach-shaped hairball! Free and it has parking!Visited onWeekdayWait timeNo waitReservation recommendedNoPrice for adult entryFree
You have no idea until you go here!!! An experience like no other, and the staff knows so much about every exhibit. We now know about 2 other museums we will be visiting. Thank you for that! Being in the medical field, there is always something new to learn, but the history here is something you can not put a price tag on!!! Not posting pics of the exhibits. YOU NEED TO EXPERIENCE THIS IN PERSON!!! One thing I can say is this is a quiet zone! You may want to think twice about visiting if you have small children.
