Free admission !! Best museum I have ever been to. There are so much rare ancient pieces in the West building. There’s also a large park outside where you can walk around, or ride bicycle. Huge parking lot with some shaded trees. You can spend the whole day there. Highly recommend it, we really love it there.Wait timeNo waitPrice for adult entryFree
Gorgeous place! We usually go there to walk outside and there is lots of space to spread out from other people. What I especially love is that the grass is all natural not an urban desert like many people’s lawns and they have wild flowers planted throughout the area. Not only the wild environment looks absolutely stunning but it also supports bees and other insects. If you look closely, the grass has wild clover mixed in which is a native flower and feeds rabbits and other wildlife plus it’s drought resistant and stays green all summer long. It doesn’t grow long so you don’t have to mow as often if at all. We need more or all lawns to be natural to support our wildlife. Plus it’s healthier for people too. Another great thing - the NC Museum of Art is dog-friendly! There is a creek in the woods so dogs can quench their thirst there if you forgot water. I recommend all people who are travelling and need a place to stop and stretch their legs and give a break to their dogs/kids to stop at this place! Take advantage of this beautiful place and don’t forget to take pictures! Love this place! Breathe fresh air not pesticides!
Absolutely beautiful museum with stunning outdoor spaces. Saw a family having a picnic and people strolling and biking around. I was fortunate enough to see Ruth E Carters exhibit and it was so captivating to see her career accomplishments laid out with thorough background information. The amount of research she does for her costume design is above & beyond. I ran out of time to finish seeing the exhibits in the second building, so I'll have to return!
This is a great thing to explore with your family in Raleigh. They have a lot of knowledgeable staff that works here as well. There is a never ending amount of things you can learn about in these museums. It’s very clean and very cool. It is also free entrance so if you have a big family and looking for something cheap/free to do. I would highly recommend the art and science museums! In the science museum there is a live butterfly exhibit!!
This is a fabulous walking area. Dog and bike friendly too. There are benches and vistas aplenty. A gorgeous combination of meadow, shady woodlands, pond, hills, and resting spots with large scale sculptures and native floral. There is a lovely bee garden with hives and plenty of healthy activity. A must if you are in the area. Open dawn to dusk, plenty of parking. Over 5 miles of trails, I didn't even cover half. The general art museum is free as well, but I didn't have enough time for that. Price for entry: $0
Great museum, a little too much tree cover. This was my first visit, and drove around more than I should have looking for front door. Anyway, Ruth E. Carter's costume design was the exhibit I saw and they are awesome! What a creative spirit!!!Visited onWeekendWait timeNo waitReservation recommendedNot surePrice for adult entryFree
Excellent experience, as always! The staff were all cheerful and fabulously helpful. I greatly appreciated that the dining room carried non-dairy milk for those with allergies! The exhibits are well-organized and perfectly spaced to allow crowds to easily meander. The standard exhibits are incredible in their own right, and the traveling and seasonal exhibits intermingle nicely and provide perfect balance to the subject matter. The space is beautiful and a joy to spend time in!
So impressive and amazing, the museum’s galleries are enormous with some video introduction. It’s really worth to spend time there to enjoy the beauty of artworks. By the way, you can go there anytime you want, it’s totally free!Wait timeNo waitReservation recommendedNoPrice for adult entryFree
Absolutely amazing place. It has indoor and outdoor exhibits. Art from various cultures, paintings, sculptures and wonderful work by many artists and from old civilizations. I would love to visit it again, because it takes time to go through various arts. Plenty of parking, amphitheater, trails to walk and bike, cafe, vending machine, lockers, restrooms. This place has free entrance.
