The Town of Needham has a population of over 30,000 residents and continues to grow with both residential and commercial construction. When fully staffed, The Fire Department is made up of 64 full time firefighters manning our Station 1 on Chestnut Street and our Station 2 on Highland Avenue. There are 4 groups each consisting of 15 firefighters that staff 3 engines, 1 ladder, 1 ALS rescue with a second rescue being cross manned by an engine company for second medical calls when staffing permits. There is also 1 command vehicle staffed by the shift deputy. At headquarters, we have 2 full time inspectors, the Deputy Chief of Operations and the Fire Chief. The department responds to approx. 4,000 calls per year.
