The customer service girl at the front desk Stephanie is rude, she'll put you on hold for a long time or she won't pick up. She noticed it was me calling back one time and she picked up and immediately put me on hold without saying anything. Cindy is so unprofessional and a liar! There's a couple of people at the front desk with attitudes or they just flat out don't know how to do their jobs. If you have an issue with your account expect to be blown off.
I recently called to ask to speak to a trainer . They gave my number to a trainer name MIKE . Let me tell you. I’ve never met this guy but the impression he left is so bad. I kept trying to get to talk to him on the phone to go over the prices for training . He never called me when I called he wouldn’t pick up. He texted me once saying “ he hopes to hear from me soon” a minute later I texted and there was no response… 7 hours later he texts saying he was busy . Rescheduled for the following day. When I called again didn’t pick up. I said listen if you’re busy and can’t make anything happen just let me know and I’ll bring my business to another trainer. He said no he has time for the following day. At 3x I called and he wasn’t answering again. Like JESUS HOW HARD IS IT TO GET A TRAINER AT THIS GYM. this guys comes off as extremely lazy and unreliable. I’ve never met someone who is so lazy in my life. And can’t make a simple ten minute phone call to me or have the decency to say hey I’m sorry my schedule is full.!! Instead he was stringing me soon for days … and still nothing happened. I will be asking for another trainer. Someone who actually loves doing their job and WANTS TO MAKE EXTRA CASH I am more than happy to leave this post ppl need to know about this. Smh
I would advice parents to look into a better child care service for their little ones. I don't even know where to start, first of all, no one in this child care center seems to know what they are doing. Absolutely no training, from the director to the teachers. My child gets hurt and no one seems to know what happen.. They pay no attention to the children. I have been there several times and see where both teachers decide to stand and talk to a parent and no one see the children climbing on cubbies. I have to be the one taking them down. Yup also walked in with a teacher shouting at my kid. They don't know when to potty train their kids. You have to ask them to help potty train because its confusing for your kid. Best of all they called me several time from work for to come change his clothes because he peed himself . Pay your money and get something better. Not a good childcare service. Overall
I've lived here for 7 years. I'm honored to call this place my home and no plans on leaving anytime soon. Staff is friendly and responsive to the residence's needs. As a double leg amputee using a wheelchair full-time this place is head and shoulders above any apartment I've lived in. Cost of living is definitely within reach. Job well done staff! Keep up the good fight!
I called for information on room rentals the guy who picked was like you need to be fully Vax for covid when the laws changed and I called back and now I'm on hold for someone higher
Context. I've been a member of the Y for like 10 years on my own pass. I use to live behind them before they tore down the building we lived in. I've pretty much been a member all my life, going since I was small. But now with how they're running their "reservations" and I can't come 10 minutes early but they "allow" you to be 15 minutes late. I wouldn't complain normally about anything. But i don't make set times to work out, I go when I go. I've had items stolen from there. Never complained. I know Mark and he also knows my family. So I'd never complain about the Ymca but now I am and I'm canceling my membership. I suggest most people do cause the way they're running it now makes no sense. Go to the new gym downtown. The receptionist who was working at 3pm 10/9/2020 is super rude, raising her voice. Assumed I was arguing but just pointing out a flawed way of doing things. And she said I don't need to stay on the phone and listen to you. I could hang up on you. Then shortly after she did hang up. Not only that. I'll comment on the rest of the amenities. The kids day care place is terrible, its to small and does smell. The locker rooms have not been updated in yearsssss. The pool is the original pool from when it was built. It's an old, out dated building and the staff are rude! Do yourself a favor and go to a gym that values their members. And almoat every gym around does not require a reservation and you can pull off or down your mask while doing cardio....so... why go to the YMCA in New Britain?
I’ve been a member for like 8 years now. Staff is overall friendly and vigilant. Don’t leave things in the locker room without a lock because it will get stolen. I love that it’s 24/7. The exercise classes are the best! And there are so many offered at different times compared to other YMCAs, only bad thing is that one instructor teaches a lot of the classes and I just get bored with the same instructor I won’t name her because she’s nice but she should change it up. The pool is nice, but I wish they had a sauna room, that would be awesome. Overall I’m happy because it’s close to home but they should put more mirrors in the room with the mats in it!
I called several times and they just put you on forever and never pickup.
Lots of things wrong with this place. To start, it takes a long time for things to get done there. Of the few machines they have in the weight room, if one gets broken, then it stays like that for weeks even months. Next is the lack of organization that seems to plague this place. I know many people that cancel their memberships here and still get billed. There is also no effort to get kids that fool around in the weight room out of there. They get in the way and play around with the weights and machines, getting in the way of people that actually want to workout. The biggest I realized recently how terrible management is at this location. I recently had my phone stolen from here and when I asked if someone can check the security cameras they said only the managers can do that. I believe there are 3 managers at this place and not one was in. They are not inclined to help at all. Additionally, the staff aren’t able to do anything but their own specific job, whether it be front desk, janitor, or supervising the weight room, because they were staff there but they all told me only managers could access the cameras and none of them were there. That one incident opened my eyes to how much they really don’t care. Some other small things that don’t make sense is that bags aren’t allowed in the weight room, but when some of us bring in equipment for lifting then what are we supposed to do? The basketball court closes early because they say that no one is there to supervise but no one is up there supervising in the first place. The only reason I keep coming here is because my gym is not open for my times on the weekends and I have a family plan thing.
I had trouble enrolling my son into the daycare program since day one. At no time did someone tell me it was no longer located in New Britain. My sons paperwork would get lost between the main office and the actual center. I paid cash one week and was still billed several times, making my account negative. When I would visit the center during nap time, one of the female teachers had her leg over the female child holding her down on the cot. Wasn't restraining her horribly but made me question it. When I needed to move my son to 5 days a week and was told that they would get back to me several times and was not contacted back. So I finally decided to remove my child, and they will not give me my money I paid for in advance back as now it was a "system credit" because of the time I was overcharged, and the YMCA is continuing to pull money from my account, causing me financial issues. When I call to speak with the director no one is quite sure where he is or when he will be in, but I could leave a voicemail. This is was last resort and an obvious big mistake.
