A hospitable space for the arts on historic Church Street, downtown Burlington, VT.
New City Galerie is a community supported art space, connecting emerging artists with emerging patrons for just and sustainable communities here in Burlington, Vermont. We have two working art studios and a 6 month residency program for qualifying artists. We host art exhibitions, each of which runs for two months, with a focus on emerging artists working here in Vermont. We also host events for a wide ranging variety of groups--poetry/writing collectives, world music singing groups/workshops, Irish step dancing, and documentary film nights all find a welcoming home at New City. Our Sunday Night Folk Series and Experimental Music nights have become local favorites and are perfect art immersion experiences. Our commitments to hospitality, generosity and justice spring from a desire to see invisible and marginalized communities have pathways to the arts. Africa Night, our first art show, was a celebration of the African refugee community here in the city.
