A nomadic, artist-run exhibition initiative based in Vermont.
Overnight Projects is an artist-run contemporary art initiative in Burlington, Vermont.
Founded and overseen by Abbey Meaker and Sarah O Donnell, the project centers upon quarterly exhibitions in alternative spaces with a focus on site-specific, installation and video-based artworks. Notable sites have been St. Joseph's Orphanage and the Moran Plant. St. Joseph's, a Catholic institution, was in operation from 1880 to the early 1980s. It sat empty from its closure until 2016, after being purchased by a local developer, who will turn the historic building into apartments.
The Moran Plant is an abandoned coal plant that was decommissioned in the early 1980s. The massive, decomposing structure still sits on Burlington's waterfront, its future unknown.
Overnight Projects' mission is to expand the contemporary art conversation in Vermont by inviting artists to create works that activate vacant and under-utilized spaces.
