Since 1861, The New Paltz Fire Department has been providing 24/7 fire & rescue services to the citizens of New Paltz, as well as providing mutual aid support when requested to any and all fire departments who call upon us.
Currently the department is 100% volunteer with a Chief, two Assistant Chiefs, 1 Captain, and 3 Lieutenants. The department currently runs about 1000 fire calls per year, and does not provide EMS. Our district includes the State University of New York at New Paltz, a 10 mile portion of the New York State Thruway, the Village of New Paltz and the Town of New Paltz. We provide mutual aid when requested to our neighboring departments.
- To provide fire-fighting force to the Village and Town of New Paltz.
- To provide fire prevention, fire safety and fire safety education services to the community, and to foster interest in all matters pertaining to the volunteer fire service.
