New Westminster station

Description

New Westminster station is located on an at-grade portion of the SkyTrain rapid transit system serving Metro Vancouver, situated at the intersection of Columbia Street and 8th Street in New Westminster, BC. The station opened in 1985 as part of the original Expo Line and was the original eastern terminus of the Skytrain system prior to the completion of Columbia Station in 1989.HistoryThe station was completed and opened in December 1985, providing a transportation link to Expo 86 being held in the City of Vancouver, and also serving development and shopping districts along the New Westminster Quay. New Westminster still serves as a temporary terminus for the Expo Line towards closing hours of revenue service. During the station's period as terminus station, a temporary platform had been built over the westbound guideway with trains thus arriving and departing on the eastbound track. At its inception, New Westminster served as the major transfer point for bus services toward Port Moody, Coquitlam, and Port Coquitlam. After the completion of Millennium Line, this function has been replaced by Braid and Lougheed Town Centre stations in the north.

New Westminster Station is actually inside a shopping center, gym, movie theater, grocery store, dollar store, coffee shop, eatery, and different options available just outside the station turnstiles. There are a lot of things you can do here. Crowded time to time but overall a nice station. It's very close to Fraser River as well. I like this station, something is happening all the time.
Not the first time going to New wesinster Station it's been a very good community but I really liked how the stations were clean and also there's lots of things to see like for example stores movie theaters and lots of good food to eat happy that the security were there to find some problems actually it's been incredible and amazing
Easy to get around to the stores in this station especially if you have mobility issues, most of the stores have automatic, opening, doors, or pushbutton, and you have easy access to the quay side from the far end of the New West Station, which makes it very convenient to go to the market at the Cue
Ajay from Paladin security is always so aware of the surroundings. So far today I have seen 2 incidents were he is paying attention and might require police involved. He is an amazing security guard.
Always clean and easy to access.Trains run less than 5minutes apart so there's never much of a wait. Buses are always clean and running on schedule. I've never had to wait more than 10 minutes max. but most main lines come every 5 minutes or so. A very reliable transit system.
Definitely one of the better and more well-lit stations on the SkyTrain network. New West Station is unique with the shopping complex being integrated into the station and the pedestrian overpass allowing customers to switch platforms and get good photos/videos with ease. It can be a pain to enter the station from the bus loop, but no station is perfect.
The area is very beautiful, it hurts that they charge us a lot for the sky train transport card and the stop from the New Westminster station towards Whaterfront smells very bad seriously the smell is horrible
Unsafe and unhygienic, also looks very depressing. One of the worst SkyTrain stations I've been to in my opinion, along with Columbia.
Busy station. There are lot of eatery places, miniso, shoppers, safeway and cibc bank in this station. The only drawback with this station is the bus terminal that is all around this station. It gets bit confusing for any person visiting first time.
The station itself has gone through so many changes and is worthy of getting five stars now...
