If you are seriously interested in homeopathy, this is the school to go. Susan Sonz teaches classical homeopathy, in a profound and inspiring way. Her knowledge of remedies, interview techniques and her understanding of people is endlessly fascinating. I enjoyed every single second at the school and can´t be more grateful for this school. Homeopathy treats patients as a whole and not just fixes symptoms. You can´t learn it online, you have to witness it with real patients.
I’m currently a first year student at NYSH. After having studying homeopathy previously, I can only state that, thus far, the experience with Susan has been a tremendous one. It is rare to find a teacher who is not only engaging, but enthusiastically and generously shares her years of experiential and theoretical knowledge wisdom, really with her students. It's an honor to be in this program and I look forward to the day that I will able to confidently apply this learning professionally.
I am grateful to have the opportunity to study in New York School of Homeopathy. It's hard to understand previous negative review about the school's curriculum and teaching method. I just completed the first year and truthfully, there is not a single dull moment. Having a busy work schedule and two young kids at home, weekends normally feel "sluggish" for me but not in Susan's classroom! Being a homeopath herself, Susan brings years of clinic experience into classroom that melds perfectly with learning of Organon, repertory and materia medica. As overwhelming as each of those subjects could be, Susan is able to present the important concepts, ie big idea of the remedies, key symptoms along with cases, stories to ensure maximum absorption. Nonetheless, studying outside the classroom is imperative for a rewarding learning experience. I look forward to future years of studying with Susan in NYSH!
I have graduated from NYSH in June 2013 and am now building my own practice as a homeopath. After carefully evaluating various programs, I decided to join the New York School of Homeopathy back in 2009. My decision was strongly influenced by the school’s progressive curriculum - a solid foundation in classical homeopathy what the old masters knew, along with new methods of case-taking and understanding remedies. Susan Sonz, our principal teacher and school director, is an inspiring, motivating and wonderful mentor. Her openness to the ways in which homeopathy continues to grow helps us become better practitioners. I have been studying different tools that help me take a case and find a good remedy by always aiming for the “simillimum”. More and more every day, I see and feel my dream of helping people, especially those with chronic diseases, become true.
I graduated from NYSH in 2009 and I am now studying for certification. The New York School of Homeopathy is a most thorough, excellent and inspiring school. It is not only professional in its approach, it has the highest standard of teachers from around the world and gives a non biased and comprehensive curriculum which enables one to really take cases with the dexterity and flexibility needed when treating everybody as the true individuals they are. Having grown up in England and been a resident of Holland I have had much experience with homeopathy and homeopaths and I found that the NYSH contains the optimal balance of teaching a solid foundation whilst keeping students up to date with a worldwide platform of world class homeopaths and varying styles of case taking. I would highly recommend this school.
I came to the New York School of Homeopathy to explore homeopathy initially because I wanted to be able to treat my family, and not have to rely on my family homeopath back in India every time one of my children was sick. I expected to learn the various remedies one could use for different acute ailments, but my education has become so much more. Before attending, I audited the first year class in the spring and had a revelation - the principle of "Similia similibus curantur", or the law of similars, that Susan was discussing was mind blowing. Then she talked about finding one’s “simillimum”, a remedy for an individual that resonates with his or her totality. Understanding the quest to find that simillimum for a patient became the goal of my studies; It is the "highest ideal” that we pursue at the school. Susan, our primary instructor, demonstrates Hahnemann’s principle in every way and with every approach to case-taking that we study. It is challenging, no doubt, but so rewarding, both for the homeopath and for the patient.
