The Newport News Police Foundation is dedicated to promoting "Excellence in Policing" by providing resources not readily available from traditional funding. Our goal is to make Newport News a better place to live, work and raise a family.
For Newport News police officers, wearing the uniform is more than a job. These men and women are dedicated to protecting our citizens. But they’re not just police officers. They are fathers and mothers, they are your neighbors; they have a stake in this community just as you do. They have pride in their city, as well as in their jobs. Given the opportunity through additional funding, these officers can have tremendously more positive impact: providing leadership opportunities to at-risk youth, increasing officer presence in difficult areas, using new technologies to fight and prevent crime, and much more. There is a ripple effect to the benefits as well: as our neighborhoods grow safer and stronger, we prepare more young people for productive futures, and attract new residents and new businesses. So, our economic development expands, the tax base grows and we all benefit from a better Newport News.
